Day 179
Just been watching the programme secret eaters. It gets me thinking about how much I actually eat, which is a lot!! If I didn't run or exercise at all I would be fat for sure.
I over eat when bored, I over eat when stressed, I over eat when over tired and I over-eat to comfort myself when I feel like pooh. I am a work in progress in my relationship with food.
Anyway as far as the not gambling goes am doing just fine. Thanks for listening... S.A 🙂
Hi SA
Can identify with your feelings of agitation there when you used to gamble and be chewed up about money ...I am the same most days but hopefully one day it will stop.
Thought about what you said about food....I love my food and was known as hollow legs in my family ...lol...also been talking about food with a friend of mine who never feels full.....dont be too hard on yourself becasue dont forget with all this running you are bound to eat more to keep your energy up..especially in the winter and you have done intensive running all winter where most would be a couch potato.
fast metabolisers are forever eating ....have you noticed that.?...my friend is like a lat..skin and bone and eats like a horse!...
If im stressed and start putting a bit on my stomach its normally due to cortisol levels being too high with adreniline...Its like it creates a little larder round your middle to give the energy so we can keep fighting or flighting...lol

Day 180 with not a penny gambled.
Thanks for passing through Rach.. I want rid of my stomach larder lol
A good day, it being a day off from work. I had a good gym session/sauna. Interval training is the way forward for me.. fast, slow, fast, slow...seriously knackering.. but may bring results.
Later had a friend over for tea and then some chess. Must admit though I got quite anti-social after 4 hours of friends presence and was ready for my flat back to myself. I like socialising but in bite sized chunks. It stresses me out when folk start to out stay their welcome.
Anyway like I say, all in all a good day. No inclination to gamble. Thanks for listening folks.... S.A 🙂
Hi SA
Just catching up- love to read your post "...just an ordinary day..." Did we ever have "ordinary days" whilst gambling? I wish you many many more ordinary days!
Take care
Irene

Hi S.A,
So glad to see your on day 180! That's amazing. I used to have a diary a year or two ago and went for about 14 months without gambling. You were the first person to write on my diary back then and offered a lot of support and guidance so i'd like to thank you for that.
I back on here with a new diary but the same goal.
Hope the running is still going well.
Regards, Jimbo
My daughter tried to reach me chess when she was about six, she used to set up a game with my dad over the phone when he was alive but I could never get the hang of it which was really annoying as I always wanted to play, bit like the clarinet, I always wanted to play that and friend gave me one lesson then moved away but all I could get the thing to do was squeek.
Know what you mean about your own space too, reminds me of the old thing about putting on your pyjamas to try to get rid of people.
Have a good weekend

Day 181
Thanks for the support all 🙂
Today I bought a new printer using my Tesco clubcard vouchers and saved a fair bit and then I went online and printed out (as I can now do!) all these money off coupons from sites like freestuff.co.uk ... ya know 70p off Colgate mouthwash etc. Then it started to mushroom and ive printed out these "Win a £100 giftcard for Tesco"..just scan at the counter type thing.
Inevitably you get directed to these sites where you can do surveys and get paid or get vouchers. I like the idea of getting paid for doing stuff online like surveys... supplement my meagre income etc. In many ways I am the ideal person for this as I have plenty of time on my hands and I spend huge amounts of time lurking in cyber space anyway. But I guess my question is this??
At what point would I be gambling??...entered into a cash prize draw for doing a survey is a no no really, but then if I am not paying to do the survey in the first place then there's no stake so no gamble, right??
Do others do online surveys for money or vouchers??.. if so which sites do you use?? thoughts welcome folks Thanks for listening..S.A 🙂
Sa
fella thanks for the post upon my thread, it did raise a great big smile, to reach 13 stone i will need to saw off a limb or two!!!!! Lol. Working progress i would like to be around the 14 stone mark as i know i feel most comfortable it would mean another trousers size down, of which i have some quarrelled away.
re your online surveys for vouchers or money i did alot when i was gambling to supplement my gambling!! The site was called zoom panel, in my experience you had to put in about twenty hours mind numbing surveys for about ten quid!! They Did a monthly draw to which i never won.lol.
Do i think it constitutes gambling No.
If you have the time spare and you my gain a few bob, why not.
In the words of that big store.
" every little helps " i know we doubled up on our points and my beloved got a rail of clothes!!!
Keep making the right choice my friend.
Duncs stepping forward never back.
Hi S.A,
Thanks for the post on my diary.
I have tried loads of survey sites, but as already mentioned i couldn't put in the big hours for little money. Just didn't have the patience. Whats interesting about your post is that it made me think about why i signed up to loads of survey sites and enter loads of competitions online. The answer is that i always used it as punishment in that when i gambled loads of money away, i got the laptop out and forced myself to try and fix the problem i had created.
I personally dont see it as gambling at all, but everyones different.
Glad all is well anyway, Jimboo
Day 182... thanks both. I don't think I will bother with all these survey things for little money. I will do the couponing lark though... every little helps as the saying goes.
It feels good to be getting beyond 6 months gamble free once more. Its been 3 years plus since iv'e managed this long. Am yet to be tested with a full on urge to gamble and that's partly because I haven't got drunk for a long time. The summer maybe more of a challenge, but as always I will be taking each day as it comes only.
A mixed day.. I decided to miss the long Sunday steady run, I went to the gym instead and did interval training and then some endurance, just an hour in total though. It ended up being 11.36 km in an hour. My body seems to quite like the fast slow thing. I guess my genes like it ie the sudden need to run away from angry bears. Maybe the bursts of speed in training is what ive always needed. Time will tell.
Then I went to a friends house for sunday lunch. This friend who I haven't seen in many months I bumped into in Tesco yesterday. It was nice to catch up and good to hear that he's not gambling either. My other mate who came along as well was getting on my nerves as he's becoming ever more dependant upon me.
Its like I am always happy to help people out when they are in the s**t but if down the line they then come to expect things as the norm then it starts to get annoying. Don't take the P*** out of my good nature that's what I say.
For me I hate to be dependant upon others but at the same time I don't want others to be dependant upon me and why my mate thought it was a good idea to bring the betting coupons for a certain football match "to show me" god only knows. I guess that he secretly wants me to start gambling so we can be gambling buddies, but that ain't gonna happen! Anyway moan over.
Its been a pleasantly warm and sunny day has it not. I hope people enjoyed it. Thanks for listening folks... S.A 🙂
P.s My team won the play off and is now in the championship. Yee Haaa!!!!
Hi SA
HotUKdeals , surveycompare and valued opnions ....I looked at those sites ....the survey stuff seems a lot of work for very little but the HotUKdeals is good ..
I like money saving expert at the moment lol

Day 183 and thanks both.
Its always good to get Monday out the way, cos then it becomes a 4 day working week. Spent the day running around after our most challenging client but he wasn't too challenging today.
Not much else to say all is fine, just another ordinary day... gambling free! Thanks for listening folks... S.A 🙂
Day 184
A good day at work, a bit stressful at times but a sense of accomplishment and "doing my bit" at days end. A sense of purpose and achievement is important in my world and helps me to keep the gambling away.
Anyway am off down the gym to "give it some". Thanks for listening folks... S.A 🙂
Hi S.A,
Well done on 184 gamble free days. It must have been hard going but looks like your in a very good place this time and coping well.
I think your right about finding accomplishments from work and hobbies being important, gambling can leave a big hole in your life and any other form of happiness is a good substitute for filling these holes.
Keep up the good work,
Jimboo
