HI Carl,

Your doing so well , Like you say its not been easy but then we dont take the easy option out anymore do we ? We face things head on as best we can, we dont hide and as we come out of the woodwork more we realise what we have been missing.

8 weeks is briliant keep doing what your doing, ryding the waves as they come, high or low gambling is not an option for us.

Take care

day 58

well as some of you know i have really got back in to running lately and i find it a great distraction and good time filler i was planning on doing a half marathon in november just around the corner from mine but have picked up an injury, so i have given myself some time off to recover, but sticking with the new me i have pre registered for the cambridge marathon in march, which will be my first one i never ran more than half marathon so is a big challenge but im up for the fight. away from running i didnt get round to getting on here last night as i was out giving blood. oh yeah and today at work i got my second payday cheque since giving up gambling and once more instead of cashing it at a cheque cashing store instantly to feed my addiction earlier i once again put in my bank and will await its clearence. this is first time in long time that i havent had a month where i had to cancel direct debits or any hassle.

gamble frees the way forward

have good weekend everyone

Well done Carl mate get that dosh in the bank. I know bills aren't nice things but it's part of life and we gamblers (or ex-gamblers now) have to except that and pay what we need to. Your doing really well mate not far of two months now, get in.

You mention ya running, ive just started it up myself. And I'm enjoying it, feels great taking control and doing something I know I would never have done if I was still gambling. Long way from a half marathon tho but I'll get there. Hope the injury heels quick and you can start up again soon. Marathon in march will keep you focused.

well day 59 is here

and just some observations and thoughts really for today. i used to really worry what people thought of me, but right now im happy with who i am and if people dont like it so what, that is down to the changing that is going on whilst on this journey. also i am starting to become more patient and not irratable anymore. i also can say apart from coming on here gambling is not in my thoughts anymore, where as before i would be like oh i can make few quid here or there on a punt its not even 4th or 5th thought. during this journey i have totally distanced myself from all sports even though i love football, and enjoy cricket and darts but i feel the time is now right to become a neutral and start watching sport again. this is not me becoming complacement its more i have come so far on my journey its time for the next test.

gamble frees the way forward

Hi Carl

Good to read how well your doing and equally good to read you feel comfortable to start watching sport again, I will be watching the football this afternoon with no thought of a bet what so ever. You do the same, gambling does horrible things to the mind.

Take care

Carl, you must be so proud of all that you have achieved.

I liked your post about people accepting you as you are...you seem a good guy and it seems to me you have filled your life with things that are so much more important than that dark place that gambling puts you into!

Well done for coming this far...keep it up and keep strong!

Forwards not back

Yo,

You sound like a man standing tall proud and in the middle .

Good for you my friend , to long we make excuses for who we are , when ultimately we are good people who took a wrong turn, and are back on the right road .

You know mate , the sport you should do what you thinks best. A life time living in fear , is no good either . So maybe you could give it a go and see how you feel .

You take care 🙂

Shiny xxxxxxx
