Good morning diary.

484 days today.

Scan results were fine, chest clear and no need for anymore follow ups, HDs indeed even though I can't shift this cold lol.

A young couple came round yesterday evening to view our house, and they seemed really keen, and we have another viewing this evening, OH not happy about evening viewings with him having worked hard all day, but if we want to sell our house, we have to let folks come at inconvenient times sometimes lol.

Thank goodness my present job is stressfree and part time, else I would probably be tearing my hair out, or even worse if I had not found recovery, I am beginning to know my limitations, and I will not stretch myself outside of my sane zone again, stretching an elastic band till it snaps is not for me anymore, I realise today how dangerous stretching and re stretching that band was, it snapped more than once,

Today I again feel calm and grateful to be in my recovery journey, and my addiction hates that,

As the days mount up I am still very much one day at a time, because everyday is different, with different situations and problems,

but one thing I do know with total honesty to myself, what ever life dishes out to me every day, gambling to escape/reward or whatever is not the way to deal with stuff, it just makes everything even worse.

To say no to gambling everyday is getting easier, but my addiction still lurks quietly in the background just waiting for a tiny slim chance to slip back in, No chance, my recovery is far stronger than my addiction, and that is a great positive start to a Tuesday morning.

Wishing everyone a strong, positive and calm gambling free day.

Suzanne xx

Hi,

Thank you for popping across to my diary and well done. The days are flying by.

Good luck with the viewing. If it is meant to be it is meant to be. It's really difficult as you are not in control.

What you are controlling is your potlsitivity and continued strangling of this horrible addiction. Remember - control the controllables!!!.

Have a good day.

Best wishes x

Hi Suzanne,

Glad to hear you're back from you holiday and that the scan was clear. Phew! Well done for not using the stresses and strains as an excuse to gamble. You're a shining examlpe of how to stay in recovery. Thank you.

House viewing...that takes me back. What a nightmare! Every visit would be preceeded by a mad cleaning frenzy ( although I'm sure that's not the case for you as I've heard tell that you're a bit of a clean freak!!), shoving everything in cupboards which I would pray wouldn't be opened. To avoid smells, I wouldn't cook until after they'd gone and my husband was banned from using the loo unless it was just a pee! Bless him...he wasn't impressed :). Anyway, good luck and I hope it goes well.

Hi Suzanne

Looks like things are going fab for you. I'm so very pleased! I have been struggling today with thoughts of gambling and my 1st instinct was to come on here and go straight to your diary to have a read! I don't know whether it's because we started this journey around the same time and ypu have stayed focused and on track and I feel I can draw strength from you or what but today ypur journey has helped mine it's kicked those thoughts right out. So thanks

Hi Suzanne , things sounding good for both of us, agree with your last statement about keeping gambling at bay, "our recovery far stronger than our addiction". Gambling again will not achieve anything positive, it s a one way road to destruction and pain, and with us being on that road before , we know it will never get better only worse, each time.

Good luck with the house, it can an incredibly stressful time! Take care

Hi Suzanne,

Thank you very much for your kind supportive post on my diary. X

Wishing you all the best in your continued recovery. Keep strong through the testing times ahead, and always keep perspective close at hand when the stress levels rise from time to time.

Glad to hear your check up was all clear :0)

Recovery is possible...... we both know that for sure.

Take care

Thanks folksxxx

Good morning diary,

486 days and it's Thursday already lol.

Two viewings in the last two days but no positive outcome as yet, another viewing tomorrow morning as not at work, but will have LM round so unless I quickly shove him in a cupboard along with doggie, :)))) they will be viewing a house with toys and squeakies

everywhere lol, I am beginning to think the estate agent is sending us nosy time wasters, :0

Son from down south rang about 9ish last night ( he has only rung me once since he came to Skeggie with us in June) anyway he is on the sick, with anxiety and depression problems, ( that I know are due to gambling and drinking at this time) but he rang because he was feeling slightly better and wanted to get back to work, as he was getting bored, (I keep in touch daily with his partner to see how he is doing) but was relieved when he rang me, he is another one who shuts everyone out when he is depressed, I just have to be there for him whenever and unconditionally of course, he is my son, and I just want him to enjoy life,

I wished he would realise that drinking and gambling won't solve his anxiety, it just makes it 100% worse. But he is communicating again, so I will take that as a positive, Happy pills the doc put him on must be helping too.

As for me for today, feeling calm and positive about my recovery, taking one day at a time, but that is just fine, every new day is a good day in recovery.

Wishing everyone a strong, positive and stressfree gambling free day.

Suzanne xx

Thanks for your ongoing support Blondie...Having a bit of a hard time accepting that I deserve it as it is something I should have could have had a very long time ago but I know I can't go back so my head is high & I'm looking forwards with just a glance @ the past when required!

Great to hear the scans were clear! Joking aside, it's not the cleaning stuff making you cough is it? Some of it is quite caustic! Maybe you need to give a mask a shot? May help with your 'toilet troubles' too...I always have one to hand & put the mutt's on after of course 😉 If this place ever goes on the market, both of them will be sent on an extended stay away! Easy for me to say but Que Sera Sera...It will sell when the time is right!

Keeping my fingers crossed that your Soldier is climbing up from rock bottom this time!

Calm & positive, I'm off out to get me some of that! Keep winning ODAAT - Juuuuuune
