You are a legend winningpost for realising that we, like RayG, all have bad days as well as good days. If we only ever had good days in our recovery journey, life would certainly be very boring. All those bad days that we had in the past were certainly incredibly stressful. Thank goodness those days are long gone!

What's important is that all of us posting here, whether it is relevant or not, helps us with our recovery. What I certainly would find extremely inappropriate is if ever someone came to boast that gambling is a winning hobby in the long run.

What an awful thought! And so not true!

Thanks for the message wp,i know like me you find it harder to write anything about problems with gambling on your diary nowadays, and that is a measure of the progress you have made on that side of things.....seems like your relationship is improving greatly at the moment as well :),i think you are now starting to reap the rewards for all the immense effort you have put into recovery, you must be pleased wp,i'm sure in a few months if things continue to go well you will also get a bit of a break on the financial front as well!!!.

Its been a few days since I posted....many many thanks for your concerns and well wishes......still bet free though as you know I'm finding it difficult to post (seems quite a few of us are) that can only be a good sign in itself.....as the new football season approaches them big windows are packed trying to suck us in....I sincerely hope we don't fall for it as I think this is personally gonnae be another major obstacle if my story is to remain a success....in the past I loved my pre season accas trying to win thousands on forecasting the leagues......and then my weekly what would become dailly get rich coupons which as we all know always went astray...I know now that I'm far stronger these days since I joined these diaries and that I shall leap over that hurdle.....I have been kept busy the last few days working and round seeing kids....the little one got good news from hospital yest in that her heart is ok now, docs were previously concerned...only got to worry about kidney now and we see specialist in Friday.....yesterday after the hospital my ex treated us to a nice meal (pizzahut) yum yum for a change and was so happy (like myself) bought the wee one a bike to which she's never been off it...2 year old and ridin a bike albeit with stableisers makes me proud...things maybe looking up but as many of you know that could change at any time.....odaat as we say tonight thought would catch up on a few diaries as finished a wee bit too late to go round....RAYG still can't find that diary and as jac rightfully put it WHY WAIT. ???? I'm waiting to post as promised....today I did not bet tomorrow I won't bet,we can do this folks. 😉 !

Hey wp,

I was posting myself about the build-up to the new season myself a couple of days ago....those crazy odds accumulators always seem plausible at the start of the year. Then Reading can't get a win for love nor money and your money's gone.... I'm finding doing the statto work for fantasy football is like the vaccine...a tiny bit of the disease to keep the rest of me healthy. Pable Barrera...one goal every four games from midfield in his career...even one in 6 is worth 2 million of my virtual pounds in my book!

Hope your relationship with the kids and the ex stays on the upward trajectory.

All the best

Ryan

Hi Winningpost

I read that your having trouble posting at times recently. Like you, I have wasted thousands and have been on this forum before and went a year gamble free. The cracks that started to appear began with less frequent postings, followed by voices telling me that I was "cured" and I was now a different person who could control his gambling!! All wrong - believe me mate. I am now back to Day 3, thousands of pounds more in debt and definitely NOT cured - I never will be! The best I can hope for is to be able to keep the disease at bay - by not gambling at all.

So, please stay strong - keep posting and don't get sucked into feeling complacent - it is a part of the addiction.

All the best

Hatch

Hi Post, glad to hear that things looking better with the family both health wise and relationship wise.

Was getting a bit worried about you not posting but then thought it must have been leaves on the line or a points failure or something that was making you late!!

As Hatch says-we are never cured of this so we must always be on our guard.

All the best mate

Hi wp

A nice positive post kid.Good to see you all getting on again. You have had a bit of a rollercoaster.

I used to have a bet on mancity at the beginning of the season most times i would do an ew acc but not even getting the odds now lol.Who cares .Like you i will watch it and enjoy it without a bet.Besides i was always a bit of a magpie. If i bet on City they would lose lol.All the best Jeff.

Hi wp

You asked if I find it difficult to post sometimes.

Sometimes I find it extremly difficult to know what to say, othertimes the words just roll out. I find it comes and goes, sometimes I dont post for weeks then I will have a spate of posting (usually when jac nags me into it).

I read every single day though, just to remind myself why it is so important that I dont become complacent again.

Dont worry about it mate, just post when you feel you have something to say.

all the best

Jim (last bet 22/04/06)

Hi wp,the "glorious" bit was totally my expression, the only point i was making was that i hadn't even realised it was on this week,as i say in previous years it was always a defo weeks holiday.....as was Royal Ascot, and Cheltenham in March,i always knew exactly when the festivals were on,this is the first time that a festival has slipped under my radar......,i guess what i'm really saying is (as you will recall) Cheltenham this year took a good deal of effort on my part to avoid....then along comes Royal Ascot, knew it was on but only watched a couple of races, found it no problem......,now along comes Goodwood, and horseracing is not in my thoughts at all (hope all that makes sense).hope you are well and have managed to get time off to go with the bairn to hospital tomoorrow :).

Hi wp,

glad to hear things are going a bit better for your little family. Perhaps the ex will gradually get a bit less erratic, the more you regain her trust. I do hope so.

Have a great weekend,

f x

Hi post,

Thanks for the nudge and concern mate. Things are going ok and i'm still gamble-free. Got to say that this will be the first season that I haven't had a bet on teams to follow the whole season. Stupid bet really, as I never even made my money back in the past. Different me now though and you as well. Onwards and upwards mate.

Stay Strong

Steve
