Hi wantstostop,

Firstly, congratulations on your recovery, truly inspirational. The reward scheme you have divised is an excellent idea. Also congrats on your new arrival, truly beautiful 🙂

Will keep checking in on your progress. Have recently come back on to the forum after four years six months gamble free (excepting one slip) as I've been getting some urges due to a change in my personal circumstances. However this forum and your diary is the quick reminder I need to keep the resolve.

Keep it up and make your own luck xxxx

Hi wants2stop,

Congrats for Paige's two month birthday! Must be keeping you strong knowing you are doing this for your daughter, as well as yourself....

I've had one slip in 4.5 years, so I'm still saying I'm gamble free, artistic license I know but it was on the back of a third miscarriage. Thankfully we are pregnant again albeit it is still early.

Think you are doing amazing, so keep going. Hopefully your OH will see sense soon too, however use it as a positive if you can. Look at him and think, oh my, I used to do that....

You need to stop him lying to you though, however I'll just comment on your recovery and not your relationship.

Keep going, you are doing great.

Make your own luck everyone!

Xxxx

Thanks both. Very good luck with this pregnancy (we were trying for 2 years) Just popped on here as i had the thought to gamble tonight. OH just left for work and in flashed my head 'oh i could just have a little go' but if i start i wont stop (like pringles) its all or nothing (same as when i gave up smoking - i know if i have one/do it once it will start again)

Popped on here instead to note down my thoughts/urges to show that it still has me at 140 days - i just know i am stronger now!

I still miss the buzz though

Hi sweetheart,

Great job for coming on here rather than "having a little go". A little go isn't that and your analogy to smoking is correct. One go will lead to another, and another. Thankfully in my case I had one night, £100, then saw how devastated my wife was with the latest miscarriage that I knew that had to be it, and that slip was two years ago.

Really proud of you, keep going, keep strong and keep smiling

Make your own luck xxxx

And to give you an idea how quick debt reduction happens once you abstain; we had £25k unsecured debt in January 2011. All now paid with £6k savings....

Can be done, it really can. Try aim for £6k on your debt and £500 on your ISA for gorgeous Paige....

You can do it.....

Make your own luck! Xxx

Day 141 - 24/6/15

Thanks so much for your encouragement - amazing how it can change your life financially. I will keep updating my aims as i hit them (my income is going to half soon from maternity so its going to be harder than before but i still think i can reduce my debt etc)

The OH has over 50k debt but i am concentrating on myself i cant worry about everything! (especially if he doesnt)

Not looking forward today as i have to take Paige for her injections 🙁
