Decided to join this forum and hope by reading other peoples stories I can gain some motivation to stop as I don't want keep getting this feeling every time I lose money and have to lie why I can't pay someone back or why I need borrow money to get a simple thing like a bus to work. I can't imagine the pain it cause if I told my parents if they knew the truth so I'm going do my best with the help of people on here to stop . Gambled yesterday and lost 350 pound which I haven't got spare . Today is the start of my new chapter and will do my best to keep this updated day by day with my progress . Any help or advice on beating gambling will be much appreciated .

Hi Needofhelp,

I'm not a prophet, philosopher, nor do I have lots of answers. I am a fellow compulsive gambler and I too need to stop and stay stopped. You are relatively young and have your whole life in front of you. Good for you for seeing what a mess getting involved with gambling is.

Like I said, I always hesitate dishing out advice but, you might want to consider looking into some counseling and or a program. Why? Because any habit/addiction is hard to break and even harder when you try doing it alone. Recovery from an addiction is a life long process and the first few steps are always the hardest. Counseling and programs can provide you with the information you need about addiction. There are also a lot of good books out there. All I am trying to say is educate yourself. When you know better you will do better.

Stick with it Needofhelp. You are on the right path. Don't give up. Keep searching. When you stop lying to yourself you will stop lying to others and your life will improve every day. Chin up. -joanxxxx
