Liked your post about your upbringing and genetics etc.

Like you I've never been one to pin my gambling addiction on others (the opposite to a degree - I blame noone else and wasn't even open to the thought that something deeper might have influenced my gambling addiction) but during my counselling sessions it did become aparent that parents do have a quite a big impact on behaviours you have learnt and developed over the years. My dad isn't a gambler or hasn't ever been. But he is morbidly obese and I grew up with him always being big. He has a food addiction - and a pretty serious one at that - not that he would admit it.

So I do wonder whether we inherit a complusive nature genetically or whether we maybe subconsciously inherit the complusive behaviours as we grow up from those we idolise the most - our parents.

Tbh although the advice sounds harsh at time's it's always pretty solid. From what I can remember his girlfriend signed up before he did. And that from her interpretation was what was said.

I think this site is crying out for a debate section? That's why there seems to be sporadic arguments

Alan there seems to be only from what I've read 4 pieces of advice when quitting gambaling. Ga, counselling, the triangle, telling family. It scares me how many people put faith in the triangle

I think self exclusion and blocking software are nonsense now. Both are proven over and over again not to work. So why are they so highly spoken of? There's that many new site's and bookies opening on a daily basis. They make the triangle look like an open farm gate.

I think when we turn up here all battered and bruised , your trying to give people somthing , anything to put in place just to put the brakes on gambling a bit , we all know whatever we put in place can be got around , we can always find somewhere to bet at anytime really and ultimately it has to be about you as an individual taking responsibility , that being said I think it's still usefull giving someone that has no idea where to begin something to focus on ? .

A debating section would be a great Idea , maybe put it forward to admin but there's always the danger that it'll turn into free for all as usually happens when we get heated but I suppose it would take it away from someones diary , I think admin deleted that one yesterday anyway though so prob realised where it was heading :((.

I don't really have any issues with the other sides who post and said yesterday that there advice is usually good but not always what we want to hear , after a little gamble free time I think we all realise that . I just wish HL would get a page where people can reply to the posts she leaves , I think it's a little unfair that she can have her say but you don't have anywhere to go to return the compliment , especially if a poster doesn't pick up on a msg left for them until later , you haver no way of knowing if she gets your reply , frustrating !! .
