Well done on reaching your 2 weeks and continuing to March on! In time as you continue to be gf you will be so much better off financially, just need to keep going one day at a time. It was good to see also that even though you had a terrible day at work you didnt turn to gambling, sometimes this is a release for us. Your doing great, enjoy your weekend!

Thankyou for your continuos support rose. I enjoy seeing people comment on my thread as I log into this site several times a day. I know Iv only been 2 weeks clean but I feel I can start to comment on other peoples threads now. At first I was like "I'm not in a position to support people" and yea, I'm still probably not. But one thing Iv learned about this site is that everyone looks out for each other. If I can say a word or 2 that may help someone then it's worth typing. A lot of people will probably disagree with me here but I think this site is better than GA. Not for everyone though because GA is great for people who can attend all the time. But for people like me who work till 2am and find it hard to attend meetings, this site is great for continually keeping in contact and communicating/supporting each other. I'm probably rambling on now so il cut it there ha

Day 16

Still gamble free. Spent the day with my daughter. Just watching a film together before I put her to bed. Pain is getting less each day now. Just got to make sure I stay on this good path

Hi wics,

Well done on powering through 16 days and your first payday (always the worst time for me!). Enjoy the film, and just spending time with your daughter, I expect she loves having your undevided attention! We are all on here because we all have the same problem. Having read a few of your posts above, just reassuring you that no one has more of a right to post their thoughts, support and opinions than anyone else - we are all on the same journey, some are just further along it than others. Good idea to get your overdraft down, every time you chip a bit more of it away, it might be an idea to contact the bank to get them to reduce it as it's sometimes dangerous, in the early days particularly, to have access to a pot of money that isn't earmarked for bills or food, no point in giving temptation an open door eh?

Anyhow, well done so far. Every day is a victory!

Day 17

Thanks for your comments Alan and twink. Yea it's been nice spending the time with my daughter. Seeing though money is Abit tight, we had a day at home today doing her homework and cleaning ha. She enjoyed it though and it didn't cost me a penny. Your right, it's just that quality time with each other that counts. I can't cancel my overdraft just yet as I would have zero money all month then. It's a good idea to ask to cut it down though. I shall enquire. Well now that 2 weeks are done, I don't know what to set my next target at. Was thinking a month but might set it to 3 weeks instead. Closer to my goal that way 🙂 hope you all had a good gamble free weekend

Ah, a mothers life on a Sunday really is hectic, housework, ironing, Sunday lunch to cook, packed lunches to get ready - who was it who called it a day of rest? Oh yes, a man! LOL I even fit a bit of weeding in today too! But like you say, it costs nothing and doesn't feel so bad sharing the burden with a little helper. I can't help you with the setting of goals, mine was quite simply not to gamble again, because if I start again, I can't stop, I won't win any money anyway (which is always why I start in the first place, to get a bit of extra money), so what's the point? We're all different though, if targets help then go with it. It might help joining one of the challenges, Deano runs a 100 day challenge and GaryL is running the 2016 challenge this year.

Best of luck this week though wics, you're gonna smash it!

Twinks x

Yea I end up working a lot of Sunday's so it's not a day of rest for me either usually ha. I was the same, "il just gamble a little to get a little extra money" usually I win when I just start. Especially on new sites. But then the greed takes over. My last gamble started as a £10 deposit. Turned it into £100. Then reversed the withdrawal the day after turned it into £250. Then I kept reversing my withdrawal about 3 times a day winning a little more each time. I ended up turning that £10 into £1200 but the gambling demon was deep in me at this point. I couldn't just wait for the withdrawal to clear. My bets were getting stupidly high and I lost it all. And then deposited a further £1000+ chasing it back. All because of that first £10 deposit. And this is what I need to remember. What I read continually on this forum. We can't win because we can't stop. No amount of money is ever enough. It just keeps that addiction going stronger and stronger. It's that first bet that sets it off and as long as we all avoid that first bet, we'll all live better lives.

I've been there many times wics, unfortunately. But, not for 109 days, and with a bit of luck and the wind behind me, not for another 109 days. The next time you are tempted, read back that last post that you wrote, and realise that it won't just be a tenner because £1200 wasn't even enough to make you withdraw, which makes you wonder how much would be enough? It's never enough is it? We can't turn back the clock wics, but we can make sure we don't go there again.

Day 18

Thanks twinks for your continual support. Yea it never is enough, the more I win, the more I think it's easy money and can't loose. Day off today. Home alone but definitely have no interest in gambling. Bought a game from PlayStation store for £15. That should keep me busy and if it was a gambling day, it would be a lot more than £15. Plus I actually get something for my money this way. Think I will try the chat tonight. Not tried that out yet.

Hi wics, have noticed you on the 2016 challenge, fab! I'm too tight to pay for playstation games, my sons cost enough - I go for free games online LOL! Did you try the chat? I think Deano goes on there sometimes, he'll look after you 🙂

Well done on 18 days.

Day 21

Wow 3 weeks already. Still only just stepped into recovery though. Still have a long journey ahead. Not gonna lie, I did get some urges before. I was thinking some crazy thoughts but I'm not gonna write them out on here cause they were just that. Crazy thoughts. Anyway I managed to dispel them and instead have planned a trip to Alton towers next week with a work friend. That will be much better and more than likely cheaper than gambling
