Morning all,

Will be gamble free a month tomorrow, which is great. ANother good week end, lots done, had to buy some new clothes /shoes which I could have done without, but gambling was far from my mind.

Yeah FM onto BB series 2 its an excellent series. I have the box set of the Soprano's as well which ive watched numerous times over, and its right up there with that. (I've always been a Goodfella's, Godfather fan!)

Will maybe try them others when im finished with BB, I joined netflix on a free trial recently and have been watching them on my new phone (unlimited data from three is great!!!).

Hope all good with u and everyone else?

Read a great post from Duncan just there, where gambling almost took his life in 2012. This illness destroys lifes, make s me more determined than earlier.

I dont go into this often but i lost my sister to alcholism 2 years ago , a high flyer in school and uni and suddenly went off the reels in a short space of time. Addiction claimed her life and left 2 young kids.

I dont think my folks will ever get over it, and Im sure as hell not going to let them see me go that way as well.

Hi Gav,

First off, well done on getting back on the horse and now approaching a month gamble free. Keep making those changes that are filling up the time that you would previously have used for gambling.

I used to love the Sopranos, but I never really got into Breaking Bad as I know I'd be committing to five seasons!

Sorry to hear about your sister, but you are well on the way to making sure you break your addiction before it goes too far.

Keep your guard up, and have a little treat to celebrate tomorrow.

Ryan

Thanks mate, I;ll celebrate tomorrow with a few episode of breaking bad 🙂

Maybe something nice for dinner.

I dont think the soprano's will ever be topped in my humble opinion, it had everything!

Still good over a month now.

Looking over past statements y day, horrendous reading , was actually just trying to find when i started paying my phone bill, when I stumbled across the endless list of online betting transactions sigh.

Messed up!

Oh well, build up the days and get my finances back on track!

Guess I should be more positive!

Hi Gav,

Well done on you getting to over a month.

Reading those transactions is horrendous, but you won't have any this month soo that is very positive.

Keep going putting more days under your belt, and slowly paying those debts off, because abstaining is the only way to reduce debt.

It does get easier, so don't get disheartened at your debts, though I know it's hard sometimes.

Have a good positive day

Flip dont the week ends just fly in!

Will be 5 weeks gamble free tomorrow. V good weekend, but spent quite a lot of money, which I dont really have but not one penny at gambling.

Was out Saturday night for pints and met up with an old friend (who gambles) Temptations were abundant but I had no real cravings which is excellent. My mate also know of my issues which is good .

Wife over the wk end asks if i wanted a bonus ball for my sons school in the nursery. I said no , I truely believe i cant dabble into any gambling, i've tried that before and it always ended up back to square one! She knows of the h/o of my gambling but not the past yr or so. I read a post last wk of someone who said only FOBTs were his problem and he could gamble responsibly on anything else! Fair play to him if he can keep that up , I know I would have no chance!

Other issues need to be addressed but like i said b4 , all my efforts are going into not gambling

Hi Gav,

Thanks for your message.

5 weeks tomorrow is a great step forwards to keep staying strong.

Understand what you are saying about any bet, I won't even do a so called lottery at work, it's only a quid, but to me it's gambling, I think they think how mean is she, but it's my recovery, and that means no gambling of any form.

What works for some folks does not work for others, we are all unique in our recovery and how we deal with it, you are doing great, keep doing what you are doing and stay strong and on guard.

All good nothing much to report.

No real urges. Thanks for the kind words Suzanne, Im like you, I cant dabble in any form of gambling.

No drink tonight.

Onwards and upwards!

Hi Gav,

Great to see you are doing so well. I really must get back into training as well, used to be a proper gym fiend years ago but I seem to have turned into an old fat b*****d whilst I wasnt looking. If only work wasnt so hectic Id attempt to get to a gym a bit more regularly.

A 28 oz T-Bone. Crikey, you arent messing around !, Im jealous.

In terms of total abstinence and gambling. I was thinking about this the other day - I have a lads weekend coming up and I know that will involve all day drinking as well as catching up and taking the P**s out of each other... generally when we are at the pub one of us will decide its a good idea to have a "go on the fruitie" - strangely I havent played actual fruities in pubs in years (since I moved onto FOBTS and online slots) and I *think* I probably could play a fruitie without it being the start of something else - however I have already taken the decision that Ill have to give it a miss as I dont want to take the chance. I suspect like you the only route to keep the cycle broken is to not gamble at all, not even the lottery.

I do wonder what ill say to mates when they ask about a "toot on the fruit", I was thinking about saying "I dont actually do that anymore" but that just sounds like it would provoke a wider discussion that I dont really want to have.

Enjoy that Steak, I will not be jealous at all whilst i tuck into my super noodles 😉

Best Regards,

FM

Morning all!

Friday already, busy week.

5 weeks plus now, looking forward to wk end, heading out tonight with mates for dinner and drinks , looking forward to it.

Spending more money than normal but None of it gambling related.

28oz steak was huge, couldnt finish it though gave it a good shot.

Yeah FM, I've tried years ago in the past to restricting my gambling only to lottery cards, only to bandits in pubs, etc etc etc, but always ended up getting out of control. Different things for different people but I know I cant afford to dabble with anything gambling orientated.

Hope everyone has a good safe week end.
