Hey guys, I haven’t posted in a while and wanted to just off load some thoughts.
I have now been gamble free for 15 months, d**n proud of myself. I had an awful history of problem gambling from c. 2012 to early 2020, although I had a brief spell of ‘remission’ in this time.
Although I have been gamble free for 15 months, I still consider myself a recovering problem gambler, the temptation is there but as long as I have all of my blockers in place - then it won’t be a problem!
Everyone has to remember the biggest and first step is admitting you have a problem - reach out to this forum, talk to a friend, a family member, someone you trust. A problem gambler is not alone and should not be something to be ashamed and embarrassed about, we are human, we all make mistakes, some of them are costly and unfortunately with gambling, you can’t turn back the clock. To continue gambling to chase the loss isn’t truly worth it - and I learnt the hard way. The hurt, disappointment and loss of trust from family really hit home the hardest.
I’m pleased to say I’m gamble free, debt free, living a happy life (despite covid restrictions), working a good job, financially stable and most importantly I have loving family.
I wish everyone could realise that the grass will always been greener if you stay strong and put every possible measure to prevent yourself from gambling in place.
