Hi,
I am now 24 I have now been gambling for 5 years. I am a gambler who would not gamble for months and find no problem but then when I do I will spend thousands.
I have not gambled for 5 days now and would say that I could not gamble again and feel that I would not. but then months after end up starting again and chase the losses as we all do it seems. Chasing the losses is what sets up apart from people who can gamble without a problem I feel.
I intend never to do it again no matter how small or big. If not for me then for my family.
last gamble 30/09/2014
Hi chm,
You have made the right move starting a diary on here, it's a great place to come and empty your thoughts so you have something to read back through when you do get any urges to gamble. You quickly remember the raw feelings of dispair.
Read through other people diaries and get some ideas on how to stop, including blocking software, self exclusion etc. these tools will take away the ability to gamble even if you want too.
I wish you all the best in your journey. Keep strong.

welcome to the forum,a place where you will receive a wealth of help, support and some amazing advice to help you in your quest to end the misery that is the episodes of gambling in your life.
We are all here because we share the compulsion to gamble,we all live by hte same mantra
I CANNOT WIN BECAUSE I CANNOT STOP
you have made a decision to admit you have gambled beyond your control
a huge well done for that,at 25 yrs young you have your whole life ahead of you.
For us by arresting the next punt we gift ourselves a win, enjoy it fella.
The advice given to me on my first days recovery still works today
The is a triangle
Time-Money-Location
Take one away at all times and the punt becomes impossible, gifting the rational side of the brain time to over ride the addiction that lives within.
There is no cure or magic potion you can take but there is 'recovery'
Give it as much effort you give those gambling episodes and life will treat you well.
re ignite any interests outside of gambling, things that gambling prevent you from doing.
Choose abstinence
Choose LIFE
abstain and maintain
Duncs stepping forward never back
I would like to thank you for the support. I have done well not gambled since 30/09/2014. Still feel fine about not gambling.
