I have just used pretty much the rest of my expendable income in the bookies, money that could be used to pay for nice things, Christmas presents, things that would actually give me some sort of satisfaction.
I am missing out on so much because I spend my money at the bookies.
This is day one of a new start
Major Win: Realising the problem
Thanks for the reply - I appreciate the sentiments completely.
I've now made it 36 hours, and that includes a trip into town where there are a number of bookies. I was able to walk right past them.
I've decided on a reward strategy. As I made it through my first day, I treated myself and my girlfriend to tickets to see SPECTRE (highly recommended) with only a fraction of the money I would no doubt have lost had I gambled it.
There are some midweek football matches coming up, and I know I need to stay strong to keep away from them.
Major Win: Trip into town and walked passed the bookies
Another 24 hours passes - two and a half days without any betting.
I live in Scotland, but commute to London for work three days a week. This is when I did most of my sports betting, as I was away from my family. Boredom. There is also 4 bookies within 2 minutes of my office. I have excuded myself from all of these.
I am therefore looking at other ways to make the most of my time, including getting back into the gym, swimming and football.
Major Win: Walking into the bookies near my office and self-exclluding.
Hey that sure is a major win.
Welcome aboard,
Suzanne xx
Thanks Suzanne
Today should be a lot easier - as per the triangle I will not have the time or location, being at a work event from 9am until the small hours.
The big task will be getting through the weekend without putting a bet on. I can't remember the last weekend I got through without at least having a football bet.
Major Win: Getting through the midweek football card with no bets.
Lol,
Small steps and taking one day at a time, with the triangle broken, is the sure and positive way to move forwards,
Another major win indeed on getting through mid week :)))

What a fantastic start on your journey. Love hearing about your major wins! Keep focussed!
Thanks guys - appreciate the support!
No update yesterday but I literally had no time.... which is a good thing when it comes to these issues.
Today is Saturday and usually I would be putting on bets to cover the entire weekend, across various sports. It's going to be tough seeing the results and not have any interest in it, but i'm going to try and keep myself busy in the knowledge that if I get through the weekend, that's one week since my last bet.
I have been feeling the urges to bet, which is probably because it is the weekend, but I have not given in yet.
Major win: avoided the bookies on a Saturday morning - I was even able to walk past them!
Affected by gambling?
