Spiritual values are healthy values that enable me to have healthy relationships with my self and other people. I am non religious yet I embrace spirtual values. Pains of the past caused fears in me that I did not understand or could reduce.

It was very important for me to heal my pains. It was very important for me to reduce and face my fears. It was very important for me to reduce my unreasonable expectations of people life and situations. By me having unreasonable expectations I was hurting my self.

It was very important for me to have clarity over what was my needs what was my wants and what was my goals.

My addictions and obsessions only indicated that I was emotionally vulnerable. Because of the many unhealed trauma in my life I feared emotional intimacy and lacked trust in opthers and in my self.

Spirtual values are about healthy intimacy with my self and with other people.

Fear very much limited me from having healthy intimacy with my self and other people. Fear very much limited me from being honest to my self and others.

It is and was not healthy for me to live my life feeling guilty shamed unworthy angry frustrated bored lonely bored with out faith or hope in my self.

The addictions and obsessions just indicated how emmotionally vulnerable I was.

Just for today I do not want or need to have an addiction or obsession.

Just for today I do not want or need to be angry frsutrated dissapointed in my self.

Just for today I do not want or need to be disconnected from other people.

Money was just the fuel for my addictions.

Money was never going to heal my pains or reduce my fears.

Love and peace to every one.

Hi  gadaveuk

Good post , spirituality or a belief in something is so important when it comes to any form of recovery from addictions , The founder of the 12 step program Bill Wilson had said that he had a spiritual experience after climbing to the top of Mount Aeolus in the 1930's and said that he never drank alcohol again after that.  The 12 step principles can be considered spiritual in nature .

All the best

@forum-admin Thank you. If we work our recovery there is no limit as to how much more of a healthy life we can achieve.

Take care
