Hello all,

Just wanted to share a thought about the Grand National as it is fast approaching and I know it can be very triggering for a lot of us.

It is the biggest gambling day in the UK and recieves a lot of media coverage. In my experience it is very common in the workplace for people to be either talking about it, sharing tips or even creating a betting pool.

My family are talking about it right now in the family Whstsapp which prompted me to do this. They know I am an addict the grand national still gets discussed, im sure this is the case for others too.

I had a look on our forums here and someone had mentioned having a relapse due to the Grand National back in 2018.

That being said, I want to remind everyone including myself why we are here, what we are fighting for and what we have to lose:

1, Mental Health - I'm sure most of you like me has taken an absolute beating by our illness and have made positive steps to get better.

2, Relationships - Our loved ones and people that support us. If we can't do it for ourselves, do it for them.

3, Finances - Not just debt, think about the life we are able to live now we don't gamble.

4, Progress - If you have been gamble free for 3 hours or 30 years, be proud of your progress and what you have achieved.

The last thing I will mention and just to remind myself...

If you need help, get help. It is widely available.

Would love to hear other peoples thoughts and additions on this 🙂

Hi Dom

Very well said

Every so often I write a disaster list

It's based on what would happen if I just place one more bet. Where that would lead to and the disaster to myself and others.

Then at the end I think, why would I want to go there
