I have a friend with a gambling addiction which has been going on for years on and off but recently it has been going on for longer than usual. He currently owes a few thousand to myself which I know he will pay me back.
He's a 24 year old lad, employed full time. Hes been to therapy lessons in the past and they have not worked - he even says himself they do not work and has it in his mind that they do not work.
I've came here for any suggestions where I can go from here, it's been suggested that I control his money for him however I cannot do this in the longterm. Is there any way to block access to gambling sites from mobile phones?

I would encourage your friend to get in touch with us via our Helpline or Netline. A gambling problem is a complex issue and it is important that he gets help. We can offer him support, information and face to face counselling sessions.

Having control of his money and bank cards could help him as a temporary measure as without access to money he will not be able to gamble but that in itself is not enough, it's important that he gets professional help to address his gambling problem.
