can you trust a person who gambles compulsively? Probably not with money, can you trust the same person who wants to battle and surrender to there addiction and stop for good with all the measures in place then absolutely yes., will take time lots of time but it’s down to the person with the addiction to want to do something about want to stop only they can do it no one else , I wish you well.
Agree with the comments above. My partner is a compulsive gambler who i absolutely trust except with anything related to money. We both have learned to accept this. And our relationship now is stronger than ever. He goes to GA, also currently sponsoring someone as well, gives me full access to his bank and credit report. When it comes to money, he knows and expects everything needs to be verified and i won’t be able to take just his word for it. This will be the setup for life, for my own mental health as well and we both have accepted this.
Once the trust has broken they need to make a promise to you that they will be open and ‘over-share’ what they are doing on a daily basis even unrelated stuff to gambling just to prove they have your feelings and insecurities met.
