Hi all, I am after some tips and where to start with some options for me my kids future.

Two years ago OH came clean and asked to borrow money from his mum and dad after saying he’s lost £30k due to gambling, they cleared his debts and he then got a second job to repay them back.

two years on, he has just gone to his mum and dad for help again, after saying he’s been gambling for the last year , he won’t tell me the amount , nor will they, so I’m worthy of the lies just not worthy of the truth 😕

I forgave the first time, im not prepared to stick around for the next relapse.

we have a mortgage , two children with one on the way and quite a nice life ( from what I thought)

Ive got a long road ahead to try and get all the support and plans in place to make sure me and the kids aren’t affected in the future.

My plan is for him to come off the mortgage and I do it on my own.

im trying to break it down into step by steps trying to create the least amount of change / upset to me and the kids , im just unsure where to start ……

Hi

There are better people to talk to you than me. I would say it would be worth talking to the advisors on here as they are amazing.

It sounds like you need to talk and maybe set some ultimatums. I gambled for 44 years and have stopped. I won't be going back and I've done it for me. I know that's difficult to understand but this is a mental illness and until I realised that I couldn't stop. I can stay stopped for my family but I've put my recovery first or nothing will fall into place. I hope that makes sense to you. I did have an intervention but at the same time wanted to give up. I don't want to advise at all especially from the other side of the fence. I think the mortgage side and protecting yourself and your children is of paramount importance. That's regardless of if you get through intact or not
