Hi guys,

I had a bad problem with online poker and casinos when I was at university 10 years ago. I ended up losing about 5k of money that I didn't have and after finally admitting the problem to myself and eventually my parents got them to bail me out financially and managed to kick the problem up until now.

Around 10 months ago a few mates were winning some money on the footy with betting apps on their phones and I thought I'd have a bit of that especially given that my previous problems were with poker and online casinos. Anyway one thing led to another and I ended up getting involved in horses, tennis, basketball and a few other sports. It started off slowly but since around September last year it got quite bad and I was placing multiple bets each day. I reckon I've lost 4-5k but fortunately my girlfriend and I both have decent earning job so it wasn't really a problem and I could hide it.

I find I can't control the urge to gamble and often make excuses so that I can place a cheeky bet or see how the horses are doing. I also think it's slowly starting to effect my relationship as I think it makes me more negative and a lot more selfish and often not really as interested as I should be.

I've made the decision to stop for good today and will tell me girlfriend when the time is right over the next week or so. I'm pretty scared as she knew about the previous problem and will undoubtably be scared but I can't do it alone and know that with her support I'll be able to beat. I've already self excluded myself from all the sites that I used to visit deleted my apps and closed my twitter account where I used to get gambling tips.

Thanks for reading and wish me luck.

Claypon

I've installed k9 on my laptop and it works great stops any thing you want it too, once you tell your girlfriend ask her to set the password for you so you can't unblock them. I think they do a phone blocker to mate so look into that I will help huge amounts.

The way I stop betting on my phone was to set a restricter on the app world so you Can not install the gambling apps, again get someone to put in that password so you can't over ride it.

Hope this helps

Thanks guys. 1 day free and feeling happy. Think I may not sleep as well as I should as it's still on my mind but things can only get better.

Will look into that K9 software.

A86N how are you getting on?
