Hi Chris,

Welcome mate and well done on making the decision to get clean - we've all been where you are and collectively we're all going through the cleansing process to rid ourselves of the pain and hurt that gambling causes.

There's lots of advice on the site about breaking the time/money/ opportunity cycle and helping yourself to stay away from gambling but my best advice would be to call the helpline, talk to someone and try to get into counselling. There is no good side to gambling just pain, misery and loss so everyday we dont gamble is a day we're winning.

If you can it helps to share where you are and keep the journal here if only to record how you feel and acknowledge to yourself what you're trying to do.

Will check back for you tomorrow and wish you all the success in the world, we're here to do it together, one day at a time,

Stay strong

Much love

B

xx

Hi Chris, Thanks for the support on my diary and good luck in your quest to get rid of your problems. You should find that the longer you go, the easier it gets. Like you say, your story is similar to mine and hopefully you can continue to chat to me and vice versa so we can help eachother. If you speak to the Netline they can arrange counselling for you, they did that for me. Just keep posting on here mate every time you feel any urges and someone will be here to speak to you. I hope you can conquer this along with myself and get back to a normal life and live rather than let it pass u by

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your comment. Things will get easier.... I do feel much better for for gambling.. All im thinking about now is saving money for holiday and a deposit for a house. It's gonna be a long road as im in quite a lot of debt. Gonna take me 5 years to pay everything of.. But during that time instead of gambling I will be saving.

Good luck and stay strong đŸ™‚

Well done, mate! It is not easy especially if it is part of the culture at work. I struggled with constant exposure to gambling but i am now 30 days clear and feeling much better about my life. Keep it up and stay positive! Chris

Well done CJ.

If you can keep busy it's half the battle. The gambling free days soon add up and after a while the feeling of freedom you get is amazing. Better still is the joy in keeping your money for you and not shovelling it down a big bottomless hole !

Keep Strong.
