Hello if anybody bothers there back side to reply, but I won't sit here and say I've got to the stage when I'm selling my families belongings to gamble..no, I stay within my means.. but that to me means every single SPARE pound I have that doesn't go to bills means it's going on a bet, it's the only time I feel the sort of rush and happiness, I've got to the point when I don't even care about the money, I'm doing it for the feeling, and I'm scared that this is going to get worse and worse, I'm only 21, lots of time to f**k my life up yet !!

And I'll add after reading some other posts there...worst thing ever is to win money, cause once I win u think that's it, it will keep coming and coming. I've got betting accounts for every one out there, with casinos, sports, bingo...u name it I've got it !!

Hi Bdan14.

You will learn a great deal here so please make 2017 your born again moment.

Ask yourself was it ever really fun? It may well be that like me you were one of the many escape gamblers. It often isnt about the money but it will ruin you all the same.

Gambling will take you to desperate new lows if you continue.

Please ring gamcare, read the advice here and take STRONG ACTION without delay.

Being gamble free is a wonderful feeling of self respect and pride

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

There's a saying in GA: 'I haven't done that .....yet'.

You are young. You're not in too much financial trouble at the moment and you are absolutely right when you say if you don't stop things will get worse and worse. Many here would love to turn the clock back to where you are right now. Make your mind up to do what it takes now, today never to gamble again.

I started gambling when I was 19. Today I am 28 this year. Over the years I have lost over £200,000 and currently have debt too. I wish i stopped at 21. My situation can only get worse from here, if I don't stop now. I remember someone telling me to stop when I was just £5000 down and when I was £150,000 down but I didn't stop, It's the addiction. Stop it while you can or learn the hard way with regret

Well done for coming on here and hope other young people read your post. As a parent of someone like you would like to offer some advice, not tell you off, but hopefully make you see things a little clearer. You are 21 - whole life ahead of you - it appears you are not yet in dire straits financially - you have no commitments and are not yet in the position of having to sell stuff. In a way the worst position because you have too much money to play with. But you are also in a position in life that most people on here would give their eye teeth for and are working hard on recovery plans to get back to that position. You need to read as many posts on here to see that you may be comfortable at the moment but 5, 10, 20 years down the line by carrying on gambling and wasting your money you will very likely be coming back on here to tell us a very different story of hardship and sadness in your life not to mention pressures that may be put on your close family or friends. Sorry to sound so hard but you are 21 with possible a bright future and hopefully people on here can stop you ruining that as from today. So make today Day 1 gamble free and write down a plan to start your new life. Ring Gamcare about self exclusion and get some emotional support from them and if you have people at home you can talk to or help moniter your finances and help you budget monthly etc, that is always a help. Keep talking to people on here even if it is just for a while until you feel you are back on your feet. Good luck BDan and hoe 2017 is the year your life starts to look up again.
