Hello.

I've always had a gambling problem, a few years ago I got myself into quite considerable debt with playing on the roulette machines and horse betting. Paying off debts through a debt management plan and all was going well until about 5 days ago I was feeling very depressed and stupidly instead of walkung past a bookies which I had done for almost 2 years I went in, put money on the roulette and I won about £500.

But as we all know it never ends like that and over the course of the next few days lost all the winnings and more besides.

Went in again this morning and lost another £100. Came out and threw up when I got home.

Can't believe after 2 years of being gamble free I messed up.

I'm in a very dark place this afternoon but know I have the ability to come back from this.

Cant stop thinking about the money but I know to be able to move on I need to forget it.

Anyway after a long time gamble free, one stupid moment of madness has cost me dearly again.

Back to day one again now. Can't let this ruin my life forever

Hi I have been a gambler for a long time nothing seems to be more exciting at the time until you lose and lose then comes the depression anxiety and self loathing .

A few days or even up to a few weeks I say never again you are loosing every penny in your life then I go back and start again

This is a trip that is as bad as taking crack C*****e it will go on and on until you self distruct. I would love to keep clean but at this moment in time unless I was a resident in a home of some kind that dealt with this I can see no other way how do you say goodbye to your best friend/worst enemy.

Theyre machines they arnt your friends the bookies themselves some really nice folks but theyre there to take your money! They arnt your friends theyre doing a job.its all apart of our illusion that we create and make the bookies that warm friendly place that we pay a considerable amount to stand in for a hour or a day get a really expensive coffee or coke then go home usually penniless feeling empty and low not because we left our friends but because those friends we just payed 700-800 quid to arnt going to give that money back anytime soon!

I did befriend a bookie worker once a really nice old guy and he pulled me to one side a year or so ago and pleaded with me to seek help his collegue pulled him to one side and said its my decision but it did really tear him up I saw him out of work and he pleaded with me again and told me it will destroy me eventually now I consider him a friend! He wasnt worried the bookies wouldnt get my money but he could see how badly it had effected me and my family and wanted me to stop.

Dont kid yourselves the bookies are no way near to being your freinds theyre a really expensive service you pay for!

Hi Tyler 7

This time they need your name and photograph on a self exclusion form. All the places in a wide area need your name and photograph on a self exclusion form. There is no shame in that. Its a moment of great pride and self respect

Please Make January 2017 the time when you step up to effective blocks.

We must never be complacent and you left yourself wide open to temptation. I renew my blocks every year to make sure tempatation doesnt rear its ugly head

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
