My name is Peter and I work as a writer for a few gambling sites, including Coinbuzz, AskGamblers, and a casino I'm probably not allowed to name.

I have been gambling since I was 13 and throughout my teens and twenties I was a profitable poker player. I was patient. I wagered small amounts of money, and I was genuinely in the black. But then I had some personal issues, I started a family, I became stressed, and as it's my job to write about new games, speak to big winners, and work with casinos, I have always found it hard to take a step back.

It's a difficult position to be in, but it's one I am steadily coming to terms with. For me, the trick has been to make it a game. I bet small and force myself to stick to a bankroll. The only way I have big amounts to wager is if I can win them after beginning with just a couple of quid. It means I can watch and wager on the games, use free spins in casinos, and keep doing my day job without causing too much trouble.

Of course, there are still some issues (Christmas is always a big one due to the sporting calendar, but COVID helped that somewhat) but I feel like I'm on the mend and I have organisations like GamCare to thank for that.
