hi guys, So I'm 18 and probably from 16 loved gambling, then I decided to join the army so I came into training with 7k of debt obviously trainings stressful as it is and the debt don't help no body knew ect it was mostly casinos ect obviously here I can't go but they have fruit machines and my phone... Now I've cut down so much from being here but I genuinely don't know what to do, it's like I'm trying to gamble to get this money and pay it off so I can live normal! I pass out in a week, have 3 weeks leave, we got paid yesterday and my bank balance is £5, Now only 300 is gambling, but that's just because the rest is on debts and how can I live a month on 300 quid I need food drink, ect, so I try to win some just to get me through but obviously lost, now I was thinking is there any company's out there that will just lend you like 7k with bad credit, I'm in a vicious circle and I stay away from the machines and my phone and barely gamble here but, I'm just f****d for money to put it like that, I'm meeting a family member to see if they can help pay plan have set up a plan for me, but I can't pay it... My phone bills over due by two months, it's like if I just even had 1k to be ahead and have money so I can pay payplan and phone bill then I'll be squared, I just need to get a month ahead kind of thing, Like you're all probably thinking ah it's only 7k but in a week after I pass out I get leave, during that's my birthday I'll be 19 so maybe I'll get a little money there, I know it don't sound like a lot of money but phase 2 I do my driving licences ect, I want a life, my mates go drink and buy clothes I just sit on my bed refreshing Facebook it's sad! And I hate it! Just need help! Anyone know what to do,

Firstly can I give you a huge high 5 for the career path you have chosen...Thank-you!
Secondly, you need to change your mindset...Gambling got you into this mess, it won't get you out! Even if you had a big win, you would gamble it all back trying to get more! We cannot win because we cannot stop. Any company that will lend someone with bad credit £7000 will charge an extortionate amount of interest...It's not a huge debt @ the moment but as long as you continue to gamble the 'only £300 of it is gambling' will be a sentence with more zeros on the end! £300 a month is an ironic figure for me because I thought the same, minutes later I had nothing to survive the month on! You need to break the Time-Money-Location triangle, exclude from the sites, get blocking software if it works on your phone & if you can't hand over your finances to someone, downgrade your bank account to a cash card only!
Phone Gamcare, see if they can offer you anything over the phone. You are so young, with your whole life ahead of you! Please, you have to act now before this gets any worse, because it will!

ODAAT is right, the last thing you need now is to borrow more. It's worrying that you say you already have a DMP with PayPlan and you can't afford it - can you go back to them and explain this - maybe your circumstances have changed and it needs to be amended? Or you could contact National Debtline or Stepchange charities for confidential advice?
But to stop all this getting any worse, you need to tackle your gambling. We echo all the suggestions ODAAT has made about excluding from the sites, downloading blocking software on your phone and handing over your wallet, cards etc to someone else - or getting a basic bank account with only a cash card. But making it harder for yourself to gamble might not be enough. You still need to win the battle in your own head and get out of this mindset that you need to gamble to win back the money you lost. I don't know where you will be posted with the forces but we offer counselling in most areas of England, Scotland and Wales and we also offer counselling by webcam. There may be other agencies who can support you too like SSAFA forces help, or Gamblers Anonymous.

You need to ask yourself a huge question..... Would you really i mean deep down use that 7k to pay off your debts or would you use that 7k to gamble and then you'd owe 14k which is what the majority of us gambling addicts have done previously before we got help.
Stop gambling and your finances will improve keep gambling and you will always be in debt. Trust us we've been there seen it done it.
