Hello, I'm Ashley I'm 21 got a well paid job and I felt to be slipping in closer and closer into this problem. I gamble on the roulette fo machines and keep feeding them until I get the big win. I get that big win but never able to quit while I am ahead. I've read all the other posts mine isn't 5% as bad as ones I've read but lately I've been getting really bad. Spending like 600 quid a month and lose the lot. I told my friends about my problem last night after I lost all my birthday money at the bookies I thought enough is enough told my best friends and they both admitted they where really concerned for my welfare. Paydays next Friday and I want the lot to last. My wage is usually gone in the first week or so then borrowing money from friends and family to just get by. I lost my job before the one I have now and while I was jobless I was trying to gamble all my JSA for that big pay out. This was for about 10 months. This is when I think I got most hucked. Trying to win any means possible. Any advise getting over the early strange is a massive help thanks

Hi Ashley welcome to the forum. It's good you realise your gambling is out of control and it's good you have come here before next fir to stop this cycle. I think you have a week to put some real barriers in place to your gambling, the main one would be getting a close family member to take control of your finances/ bank cards. I know this may sound very restrictive but you have to put a block on your access to funds. Secondly, you should think about self excluding from the shops you bet in so there is less chance of going on these dreadful machines. Thirdly, now your friends know get them to help you out next weekend, maybe organise a day away or something so you have no time to gamble. Finally contact gamcare, those stories that fill you with horror all started like yours. You have a real chance to help yourself. Good Luck
