I think all the harm and forums like such and support groups and dwelling in our misery would just be avoided if addicts and the population didn't have the opportunity to gamble at all.

It's solely a profitable untethical industry that preys on vulnerable people predominately. It doesn't even benefit responsible / recreational gamblers because they predominately don't win like everyone else.

there's no fun in not winning money (which they advertise you can do).

So how can gambling even be fun at all, losing hard earned money isn't fun on any scale.

Even unlike alcohol (though some are addicts), it can be enjoyed. I'm sure if i did a survey on responsible and problem gamblers if they find any fun in losing during gambling activities; most would say no.

Ban it. It doesn't benefit the public

It's not supposed to benefit the public , nobody forces you to gamble and the vast majority of the public either aren't at all interested in it or already know it is a mugs game.

Gambling is designed in tandem with human psychology to provide dopamine hits and trigger compulsive behaviour patters

There is a sub section of players out there that quickly get obsessed with the concept of "free money"  or "chasing losses".

Some players will drain all available funds, accept they've been beaten and give up

others refuse too accept defeat and go further and further into debt , these are usually the types that will be on the tables 5 days a week at any given hour

All of it is by design - and the governments make a fair bit from gambling lobbyists and gambling taxes

Simplest solution is too just accept you've given it a good go , can't win and take it for what it is

- a scam
