Day 24 and not been anywhere near those nasty machines and havent been tempted to so feel good alot of time is being consumed and focusing on putting things right got finances in order for once in 10 years cut up my cash card so now living on pocket money once its gone its gone. Two GA meeetings also they told me how it was first I was taken aback because I am not one to listen to good advice hence me being in the position I am but it made alot of sense its about being proactive and putting many barriers in place so we never gamble again and regaining control of our lives and focus on the important stuff like being happy and enjoying life most of all I need to regain the trust of those that I have hurt and to make amends but remember we are not out there to prove to them but to ourselves that we can try to live a normal live suppose gamblings is about trying to prove something but trust me as you all know it doesnt work.IAt the moment there are still highs and lows but we have to keep battling.

Good on you jayd and welcome to the forum.

I promise you it all comes right when you are gamble free. keep talking about it on the forum and talk about how strong your blocks are. With strong blocks your gamble free days will mount up. You will feel calmer in time and wonder why you ever gambled

I hope there is someone close that you can also talk to about this.

You may have stressful days in the future as everyone does but gambling is never the answer.

You will take a pride in building that trust again but you must never be complacent. It was a strong addiction for all of us and it takes all the support help and advice you can get

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Hi Jayd,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your post too.

Well done also for abstaining for 24 days, and hopefully, with your efforts and determination to stop gambling, you’d be able to achieve your aim.

It seems like you’ve put the right strategies that works for you in place, and I’ll encourage you to stick to them for the result that you’re getting.

It appears difficult when you always start something new like abstaining for instance, but you get used to it, and it also gets easier to carry the task out with time, you know?

Obviously, you’ve taken the necessary steps in the right direction, so keep going. The GA meetings, the cutting of your bank cards, and living on pocket money until you feel well recovered to manage your finances again will all be worth the effort.

It’s advisable, and would be beneficial to you to stay in touch with Gamcare so we can offer you more support in case you need it, and also to enable us to know how you are progressing with your recovery.

Do continue to read from the forum for more strategies and also for strength, and try and post as often as you can.

Keep up the good work, Jayd!

Best wishes,

Beatrice
