One thing I used to look at is if I win this money it will help us through Christmas
With Christmas fast approaching and many thinking 'how am I going to pay for this' let me promise you gambling will not pay for it because you are putting in more money than you get.
That money you would put on a bet/online site/ scratch card etc. Could be the money you spend on one present, rather than lining the pockets of the owners you can give an extra gift to your loved ones.
Around October ish time I would heavily gamble to try and get some money in but looking back at bank statements made me realise that I put a lot more in than I gained.
This year I have been able to buy much more for my children and even squeezed a holiday abroad in there because I haven't gambled for 365 days.
I would never have done this previously because I needed the money to chase that life changing win, it never came mind.
Please just remember you can get those presents without gambling.

Just read your post from 2 days ago, short, sweet & yet so relevant. A better Xmas based on what we might ( or probably won't ) win. You're spot on when you say you invested more than you ended up spending on loved ones for Xmas. I think the average none gambling family face horrendous challenges when the bills arrive in January. People who've a heart as big as yours & want to make Xmas time special for children. I suspect at great cost like most of us on here you've learned the hard way that gambling isn't the answer. Giving what you can brings so much more rewards than giving, based on what you think you might or maybe won't win. May this post make you realize that if it's a small gift in years to come your children will have fond memories of Xmas. Why ?. because you gave all that you had, What parent can do more than that.
