Well after spending nearly £5k in a week on competition sites, it’s safe to say I’m ashamed of my actions, although I’ve won a little back, various prizes, but doesn’t make me feel better or right.Â
This is my day 1 - to put a stop to these sites, which quite frankly are preying on the vulnerable, as they’re not regulated and bypass the gambling commission rules.Â
I’m in a fortunate position where I can technically afford these losses, however I say fortunate, I, like others work very hard for my earnings and it can be spent on much better things, like savings, holidays and general life.Â
I’m really ashamed of my actions and worst of all hidden it from my wife. I’m not sure on how she’d react if I come clean to her on the matter, or shall I just work at it with support from a forum such as here? She won’t know any difference money wise, as I provide enough for the family, in various places.Â
Really don’t know how to go forward from here, just taking one day at a time I guess.Â
Any recommendations on how I can block these sites from my phone?Â
Gamban should prevent you logging onÂ
Hi @dy3lzuq5rs, welcome to the forum, and thank you for sharing with us what is happening. If you want to stop online gambling, free self-exclusion tools are available through our TalkBanStop partnership. You can download Gamban (blocking software) here GamBan and GamStop (self-exclusion) here GAMSTOP. The more tools you use, the harder it is to gamble.Â

Morning. I completely feel you! I’m also in the same position. I’ve really really struggled with these sites. Over the past two weeks I’ve spent £80-which is better then £600 I would have blown, but still, I wanted that to be £0.Â
competition sites are the most addictive sites I’ve come across and like yourself, also a lot of losses.Â
I wish you all the best in recovery. Keep busy, that’s the only thing I’ve been doing to keep my mind from engaging with these sites.Â
