Good work mate I did the same just before Christmas, walking into the bookies not to gamble is strange especially when the zombies are feeding the FBOT and shouting and screaming at them(that was me) but I ve not been in one for over 50 days now and i can honestly say I don't miss it one bit.

But self excluding takes the temptation away from even setting foot into the place which for myself was the biggest part of the battle.

Well done Shane and Mark and others whom have self excluded.

It takes guts and you are showing that you are more than committed to giving up gambling.

I and others know the horrible gut wrenching and sinking feeling that accompanies losing. it's very unpleasant both mentally and physically.

Self exclusion and gambling site blocking is paramount so when the nasty urges occur you cannot gamble.

I come on and post on the forum a lot. It's in keeping with my general policy of keeping busy and doing exercise.

The more I can fill my time in with worthwhile activities the less inclined I feel towards the menace.

It seems to work for me.

Counselling via Gamcare or GA meetings help a lot of people as well.

Cheers now.

Yeah well done on the self exclusion....a few minutes embarressment for hopefully a lifetime of peace. Best thing i have ever done. Dosent stop you travelling to other shops of course but makesgambling such an effort and gives you time to stop and think.

Whenever i pass bookies just now i may glance in and see regular faces in the same position with the same pained expression and inwardly smile that i have taken myself away from the madness.

Stay strong.

Yes was a very strange experience, but am proud of myself for doing it, I totally agree that taking the temptation away is a big part of it, I just have 7 arcades in my town to go through tomorrow now and that will be every establishment in my town, I am also looking to start new hobbies as for Me when I get downtime and bored the first thing I do is go to the bookies or open my account up online and play so I have downloaded K9 aswell and my partner has the password for it so I can't go on anything online either, I just feel that this is the only way for me I need to cut it all out in one go so temptation doesn't creep up on me like normal, love all the positivity e*e and knowing where all in the Same boat is good as this addiction makes you feel alone

Hi Shane, great work mate & you are far from alone on here 🙂

Until you find something else to do, you may be as well to scoot around the site, plenty of people will be very pleased to hear from you!

Keep strong - ODAAT
