Feeling broken

Hi to anyone reading this.

Not really where I pictured myself being. I'm 18 years old, have a steady job and a lot of wonderful friends and family around me including my lovely fiancГ©. I've lost track of everything.

Around 6 months ago, I took out a payday loan and also a bank loan to pay for a last minute holiday to Magaluf with my friends. Despite family telling me I would suffer for it money wise, I didn't listen and wasted even more money when I was there.

I'm generally not very good with money but I've always had enough to get by with. Because of the issues I was given no option but to take on a second job so I now work 7 days a week. For me this wasn't solving anything quick enough.

I saw a picture on facebook that a friend had uploaded of the £££'s they'd won on an online bingo site. I thought maybe this would be the quick fix I needed to get back on my feet.

How wrong was I. The 28th January was payday from both jobs, and all of my wages were gone within a day. 2 days previous to this I had racked up a bill of £270 on a family members credit card and with that was forced to admit how I was feeling and what I'd done.

I'm now left with no money to my name until payday, and have just racked up another £150 on the family members credit card.

In my head I had this theory that the more I put it in the more I could win back and pay off all of my outstanding debts and repay the family member.

I feel like the worlds worst person. Disgusting and vile, how I could be so stupid and yet still have the urge to chance my luck.

You are not stupid. Well done for coming on this site and admitting your feelings. You need to block yourself now before it gets much worse and belief me it can. I am £000's in debt. Self exclude yourself but better still get rid of the family credit card and just have money (i.e cash) to use so you cannot spend online. If you use a computer then block it with gamblock. Dont let it get worse PLEASE

HI sc,

Poblwc gives you good advice.

You have to ensure that when you have the strong urges to gamble that you cannot actually physically do anything about it.

You need to break the vicious circle. Entrust your finances to a family member.

If you continue to gamble you may well win and recoup your losses and a bit more besides. What is a HUGE POSSIBILITY is that you will give it back and even more on top. If you think things are serious now, then think again. Your life would be come a gambling hell consisting of forever chasing losses. Believe me it tuns into a nightmare and will really mess with your head.

Do not waste the rest of what may be a very long life by gambling. Your life will be HELL.

It could help you to seek counselling via Gamcare (free). GA meetings are another possibility.

You could take up the 2015 Challenge on the Forum and or keep a diary on here.

Take things one day at a time and the days without gambling will soon mount up. Hopefully your bank balance will as well.

This site has really helped me. I'm 34 days gambling free. It FEELS GOOD.

I hope things go well for you.

Best Wishes and Take Care Now.

It seems to me that counselling via Gamcare could help. It's free.
