after gambling has cost me everthing before meeting my girlfriend 3 years ago I decided to stop she's totally against gambling as her dad had a bad problem! Things were great we had a baby in August last year I still thought about gambling but could control it! Then in October I had a little flutter and haven't stopped since, now my girlfriend has found out still tried lying to cover myself till I eventually came clean about it now she's thrown me out says she can't trust me! I'm not sure if she'll take me back! But having to say goodbye to my little baby is the hardest thing ever and I'm not going to let gambling ruin my life anymore!

Hi Cookie,

I'm sorry to here your gambling has caused this rift. I think the only way you'll get back with your girlffiend is to prove to her that you can kick the habit permanently. Contact Gamcare for counselling and or go to GA meetings. Get the blocks on gambling sites by using K9 ( (free) and ask someone else to set the password and not to divulge it to you. Self exclude from High St gambling outlets. Ask a family member to deal with your everyday finances so you have minimum access to funds. If you prove to your GF that you are taking action and sticking to a plan you may get back with her (and your child). If not I don't see it happening at all, especially as her dad had the same bad hibit. Your GF will have had plenty of grief come her and her family's way through that so it's a case of once bitten twice shy.#

You can take up other hobbies and do sport. I guess I'm a lot older than you and I go to the gym and do strenuous exercise as I find when I'm knackered that gambling thoughts are not as strong.

You will have to be determined to succeed but it can be done. You could do worse than joing the 2015 Challenge on here. It's helped keep me "clean" for nearly 50 Days and I'm still as determined as I was at the start. You can be the same.

I wish you well for the future.
