Hi Josseeph

You can get your old life back. I'm around the same age as you and the last few years for me have been pretty much gamble free. I've had a few small relapses (one 3 days ago because I got complacent) but all in all my life is in a lot better state than when I first came to the forum.

These first few week will be the hardest, but the gut wrenching feelings will pass. If you stop now you'll be able to make up for the years you've lost to this horrible addiction. My advise would be: Visit here everyday, start a recovery diary. Get someone to take control of your finances for a bit and put blocks in place. Try to get out of your house engage in a hobby or visit friends, do anything to take your mind away from the thoughts swirling around your head.

I've been to GA and had counselling in the past these both helped. There are also debt plan agencies out there if you're struggling to make payments. This is the start of a long journey but you're still young and things can be turned around. I wish you all the best.

At 31, you are still young enough to turn your life around and have a good future.

I was in a similar position as you thousands in debt, on cards and loans and addicted to online slot.

I was 38 and 17k in debt before I finally woke up and stopped ruining my life with gambling.

At that point, I had no hope of retiring early and even when I did life would be living hand to mouth each day.

That was 8 years ago now and within 5 years, stopping the gambling, I realised I could now retire and afford to early.

I think you already know what you need to do, from your previous time here and reading people's same and similar stories.

But unless you really are prepared to do whatever it takes, you won't succeed. Harsh maybe, but very true.

i understand i want to I Hey all. This thread has really helped as I'm 33 and feel I too have wasted the last 10 years. I have a great partner who knows nothing of my problem.

Like you I am determined to turn myself around and reading of people who have achieved it spurs me on greatly.

I want to make a real fist of it so come on guys, let's help each other help ourselves.

I totally understand the depression and self loathing it causes but let's turn it around to a positive!

Hi, there is just a couple of years between us. I also have gambled for 10years. I am also in debt of 11.5k. I know them feelings. I am struggling to accept my debt. It gets me down most days. Start a diary. I have and it's helped me so much in my first 40 days recovery.

Wishing you the very best
