First of all, take a deep breath. Everybody on this forum know was the urge to chase losses. That is what makes us problem gamblers. Just remind yourself that you've had the urge many many times before and it has never worked out has it as you yourself have said it has made the problem worse and worse and worse. Your logical brain just need to keep telling yourself over and over you're going to lose more money if you play more. Can you leave the house can you go visit a friend. Or telephone a friend. You need to distract yourself and wait a while most urges pass with time. We are all here supporting you. Also do some reading on the recovery diary section and success story section you will see some proof that this can be conquered and that will give you some hope...

Thank you for your reply. This first step is my first step. Its so hard. Ive gone past temptation now someone has replied. This thing has been in me since i was a little girl. Im nearly 28 years old and everytime i go back to it im 10 times worse than the last. Betting bigger. Its something i love doing but its being so destructive to my life as ive got older. My character has completely changed, i used to be a bubbly, loving, funny character that would always make an effort to look nice and now i neglect myself. I wont dress nice anymore or wear make up, i wont have showers for 2 or 3 days because i think thats more time for me gambling whilst my 4 year old daughter is at school or in bed:( i feel discusted in myself and a failure. I want to be interested in things but all i can think about is gambling .

Its nice to see I'm not the only mother with this disgusting addiction. I'm a mother of 3 and have gambled compulsively for 15Yrs. About 7 years ago I lost my well paid job and ended up with a police caution for theft. I'm still disgusted that I stooped so low and was probably lucky it was a caution and not worse. I lost my house. Life began again with a new partner and it didn't take me long to get back into the gambling and the lies and deceit started again. My partner now knows of my problems as I'm a financial mess once again. He doesn't understand and tells me everyday that I am lowlife s**m who should be in jail. I have no confidence. Like u I used to take pride in myself. Now I am a mess. Iv just spent the last 3 days gambling away and lifeline that was thrown at me. I have paid no bills, I haven't a penny for them and can't afford to feed my other addiction of nicotine which is only gonna make me worse. Please read my story and stop now. I'm 38 and have no idea what it's going to take for me. I have no access to money wotsoever and have never felt so low x
