Hi everyone i'm Tom 23 years old and a compulsive gambler. i have recently hit a all time low and stolen £70000 off my dad in which i lost online i have been gambling for 5 years, i have now came to my sences and realised i have a problem i have attended two GA meets in which i have met guys in similar situations and spoken about my problems my parents now know im a compulsive gambler. I lost £300 on the 7/12/2014 this is my last bet, although i was bought a scratch card christmas day by my girlfriends parents which was very awkward i did scratch it which was a bad idea i have given my mum controll of my money she now has my card, and i have deleted my online betting accounts. i will continue to go to GA meets on a regular basis there are two meets a week locally.
anyone have any questions please ask. It was nice to introduce myself to you all, goodluck everyone will keep you updated on my progress.

Welcome to recovery tom9191 🙂
Congratulations on all your hard work so far in beating this while you still have your whole life ahead of you & time to right your wrongs. I am so glad you have found the strength to be honest with your parents as you will need support from everywhere especially in these early days when you are most vulnerable because you haven't yet realised that you can beat the urges when they come calling.
I assume GA will be able to answer any concerns or questions you have but don't be afraid to come here between meetings & put them out there sometimes someone has a little gem that fits your recovery. I agree with Tri about the blocks & if you haven't done so already would strongly suggest excluding from the sites that have allowed you to self destruct, then downloading a blocker so that you cannot gamble through your portal.
I'm not sure if you are aware but Gamcare appears to provide support to family which may benefit your parents since they have been affected by this & are helping you with your journey!
Happy New Year & wishing you strength to deal with your demons - ODAAT
Hi guys just checking in, still gamble free from 7/12/2014, parents have controll of money also if i go up to the girlfriends she then controlls my card. i did have controll of my card for a couple of weeks but the guys at GA told me it was best to give it to a family member and told me i was crazy walking around with it loaded with cash incase i get the 'urge' although i was'nt tempted atall i feel i can controll it. feels good not to have to worry about betting etc. everything is on the up and i thank everyone for reading my posts will continue to check in!.
