Im 19 and have been gambling since I was 16. Last night I got paid and was determined to stop gambling but as I am typing this my bank balance is under a pound.
I am in about 1,000 worth of debt through loan companies and it is effecting my job because of staying up late gambling.
My family knows of my gambling and have been trying there best but they don't know the full extent of it.
I am going to change my bank card and give it to my mum (That should stop me gambling for a bit)
I just want to be debt free and stop the gambling I am so f*****g depressed and cant see a way out.
I am worried that I will stop gambling then a year or even 10 years down the line I will do it again and it could have greater consequences.
Ahh I just needed to get this off my chest it is time to stop gambling I am fed up with not having a pot to P*** in and feeling like this all the time.
I think tomorrow I will delete all of my gambling accounts and put software up to stop me from going on these sites. Then maybe go to the doctors (again) about it
Hi darkshades,
Good morning. Welcome to the Forum!
You seem very low in your post and frustrated about how everything has been going for you.
At the same time you seem to have already found many answers. Giving your mum your bank card can certainly be helpful as you cut yourself off access to money to gamble with.
Installing a blocking software on your computer can be useful as you cut yourself off access to gambling opportunities. All this will make it harder for you to gamble should you feel the urge to do so.
Keep using this forum, too, especially if you find it helpful to get things off your chest at times.
Kind wishes
Gabriele
Hi darkshades - Well done on realising that your life needs to change - don't 'think' about self-exclusion - do it now! You are in the very fortunate position of being young and having your whole life ahead of you - wisely you have realised that you want a better life for yourself. As you say, you certainly don't want to be in the ******* when you are 30 and beyond, and believe me, the years soon fly by.
You can make a real difference now by giving up this destructive addiction, and this site will really help you to achieve that.
So cheer up, feel strong, and look to the future!
Best wishes,
Joanna
