Hi everyone my name is dan

A bit about myself..more about my problem I have had a gambling problem for years in late 2013 it all came out that I had got me and my long time child hood sweet heart my sole mate into some much debt that has now resuted into us haveing to enter an Iva i then started going to ga meetings after my parter nearly left me and I stayed gamble free for just under a year I had to stop attending ga meetings due to work commitments and for the past few weeks that gremlin has be creeping back to me and today I have spent the shopping money in the book makers I have done it again and I don't no why when I said I would never do it again after last time nearly losing everythink so I'm going to be give this web site a good go and make sure I can spend as much time as I can on it so there is more chance of me kicking this habit that will take everythink from me thank you and look forward to hearing from you all thanks dan

Hi dan ,

The ironic thing is you have said ur solution in ur own post written by ur own fingers !

i then started going to ga meetings after my parter nearly left me and I stayed gamble free for just under a year I had to stop attending ga meetings

Get back to meets or attend another which is more accesable to you. Gambling will or has ruin peoples lifes, so the question is Do you work recovery around work or work around recovery ?

TC Jay.

So wheres the nearest ga meeting you can get to? sounds like they were working.

so you slipped, ok, dont let the negative feeings about that undo all the good work you have done, you've been so strong already, one day at a time...

Why put work over Ga? It was working! No point having a job if your going to spend all you earn on gambling is there. You might as well stay @ home. Ok so that may sound flippant but the point is you found a solution that was working for you. Without recovery you have nothing, no partner, no job, no money, no friends. Its all about priorities & yours should be staying gamble free.

Well done Dan, I am new here and I have my first Councelling referral a week Friday. I really feel for you but I also take streangth from the fact you went a whole year without gambling so it can be done. Already when I get the urge to gamble I have decided to hit the forum instead. Its a small start but I haven't gambled for 24 hours and got the urge this morning but came here instead. Find your focus Dan and don't beat yourself up!

TonyT,

I come to this forum as part of my "keeping busy" policy. Every now and then I post ideas and help for others.

It does help me.

2015 challenge been good for me as well.

22 days free from the demon now.

Still obviously think about gambling but the urges seem to have decreased.

I've started to fill my time with all sorts of things to keep me away from gambling. That seems to help me. Rediscovered old things like keeping fit as strong exercise seems to help. Too knackered to gamble !

Cheers
