I've never really gambled much, only maybe Đ’Đˆ10 now and again but this would be a rare occurrence. Anyway for some reason I started playing online live roulette for the first time in my life and I put Đ’Đˆ10 on red and lost. Then for some reason I thought meh, I'm likely to get that money back if I double my bet and go back on red (Đ’Đˆ20) and lost again. Man I kept increasing my bets for my cash back and lost every time bizarrely (47% chance of winning). I lost a total of Đ’Đˆ500 in a few minutes on Christmas day. I feel so embarrassed, stupid and I had to go through Christmas dinner with my kids/ my wife and her family and still try and smile and pretend nothing happened. Luckily I have 900 pound left on my savings account which I made by myself (I'm so relieved I didn't bet Đ’Đˆ500 for the chance to win it all back and forget what happened). Nobody knows yet what I've done and I'm trying my hardest to make up that lost Đ’Đˆ500 by selling stuff on eBay. Lesson learnt here guys, I'm an idiot, i'm dangerous and my luck is obviously bad lol. I wanted to feel better by speaking out on this forum (I know it's not as much of a loss as most of the people here). Man my wife even said yesterday to her brother (with a big grin on her face) that I've managed to save £1400 and I almost threw up.
I've accepted that loss and have no intention to bet to get it back. Hopefully I can get the money back within a few months so noone notices.
As a parent of a gambler I am so pleased you have come straight on here and opened up about what you have done. I really hope you have learned a hard lesson and can nip this in the bud asap - it sounds as though you have and you are able to manage your financial loss. If people carry on the financial losses get greater and more difficult to recoup and risks of losing family is far higher especially as these things are kept secret from friends and family, which adds more pressure and heartache for you. Please read some of the posts on here to see how that can easily happen. If you have a problem again in the future come on here asap where Gamcare will advise you and you will get support from other contributors on here. Meanwhile, concentrate on a happy future with your family and try to enjoy the rest of Xmas with them.
You have given a good lesson in opening up immediately before everything spirals. Well done.
Good luck for 2017.
The £500 has gone. Do you want to sell what you're selling? Because if you don't that alone could be a trigger for trying to claw losses back by gambling (which won't happen as the statistics you've quoted yourself show you. There's no such thing as luck).
Draw a line under it, make your mind up never to gamble again and take measures to make sure you can't. Plenty here and elsewhere would be happy to have learned a lesson at 'just' £500 if they could turn back the clock.
Thanks for your kind replies! Yeh I don't think I could make this same mistake again considering how c**P I felt after loosing big. I tested my luck and I accept this was one of the silliest things I've ever done. Yeah selling things and doing extra shifts will make me alot more relieved and happy as I will get back on track. I'm saving money so I can sort my house out (kitchen and bathroom work). I'm feeling abit better but not fully until I get back over £1000 mark. Cheers again.
Please avoid the slippery slope. Read through some recovery diaries to see what a lucky escape you have had x
I'm lucky i guess because my next move was to risk it and gamble the rest of my savings but i couldn't do it! The risk was too much especially on Christmas day. I could have won and been better off but if i lost i would have felt alot worse than what i have been feeling. I'm glad i didn't do it! I haven't told anyone in my family but lucky i think i can get the money back (without gambling and without them knowing anything happened).
Progress: I've managed to make 78 pounds back selling stuff on 3b4y and i'm feeling alot better. Relief.
you lost £500 im new here but heres a reality check next time you walk into see your kids there your wife look at them and think i could of lost you ... all of you to one stupid gamble! your wife was proud of you for saving £1400 its hard to save these days, what if you do it again like you said you were tempted to get back and win it back but in reality you would of probably lost even if you did win and get in profit you would lose eventually!what if you lost that 500 and then lose the rest chasing the loss?could you pay rent/mortgage have to tell your mrs why you cant have food on the table this week becuase you lost the lot.seriously if you can bet £10 and walk away then now is the time to get out whilst the goings good DONT WIN BIG its the worst thing that can happen ever its the fish hook that drags you in and they keep throwing you back out and reeling you in.run now whilst the goings good if not for you then for your family.roulette is the wheel of death and if you dont steer clear then avoid immersive roulette as the wheel spin can be changed by the ball slinger or the pit boss to change the outcome of the spin so basicaly its fixed.
hear hear , you had a bad experience but be proud of yourself for stopping with £900 funds after loosing £500 a lot of ppl me included which really struggle to walk away after that so get out before your brain gets deluded even more , i did lose my rent money twice this year and only due to family support did i keep it all together , co rals didnt car , don,t give a f*** if im homeless with a kid , that roulette wheel will keep spinning and spinning 24hrs a bloody day leaving a whirlwind of destruction behind and a lot of easy £££ n the coffiers of the operator
peace
Hi Subsidel
Yes that roulette!....I hope everybody reads that and Im glad you have posted on the forum.
My best advice is that you must realise you have triggered compulsively there so its in your best interests if you just shut that down with a self exclusion. That would include everywhere else you may think of going however briefly at times.
As I think you know the money has gone so you must have no thoughts that there is a get it back later scheme operating. There isnt and especially in roulette.
Im not being over dramatic here so please use the experience to realise it can and did grip you. It will just make you feel better by shutting them out
Very well done for posting on the forum and I hope you can now reflect on the horrendous experience and reckon up if it could trigger again.
Hopefully that was the one blip and you can now be gamble free
Best wishes from everyone on the forum
