It's time to get on top of my gambling problem, last night I lost a grand, and over the past several years it is well into the thousands, I don't know the exact figure, maybe £15k?

Everytime I do, I instantly question myself why, even when I'm up ill continue until I'm at a massive loss- why??

The most common time is weekends, always when I'm drinking and consuming other substances- its time for change, everytime this happens I feel sick, Its exhausting, but nobody is to blame but myself.

I've been on GamStop for several years and will remain on there for the foreseeable, but that just isn't enough- I still find a way around it going onto unregistered sites (foolishly) thinking "tonight will be different".. but it never is.

I'm 26, fortunate enough to have a good job that pays well, but I have absolutely no personal savings as I just throw it all away on slots.

I need to remember this feeling I have right now and the pit in my stomach over the loss. I often think about what I could do with all the money I've wasted over the years, although I'm sure that isn't healthy.

I need to find a vice in which is healthy,  as quite clearly both drinking and gambling really is killing me.

Hope the rant is okay, I just had to unload is somewhere.

Hello Sortingitout,

You might like to combine GamStop with additional measures.  If in addition to registering with Gamstop, you also register with GamBan to install blocking software to limit your access to gambling sites on your devices, and use your banking App to turn off card payments to gambling sites, altogether they can make it easier to avoid gambling on impulse.  Would you like us to give you a link to a free promotion of GamBan? If so, please call us on our freephone or netline.  We can also talk with you about other methods, for example allowing someone you trust to supervise your finances for a while, like a parent perhaps.  Another angle is to  consider how else to schedule your time at the weekends.  We are available 24 hours a day on the freephone and netline if you want to chat.

Take care,

Adam.
