Hi everyone
So it begins. I am addicted to gambling, well gaming machines to be precise. Have wasted so so much money and am now skint and quite desperate. Have spoken to an online counciller and have today taken the first steps. My sister knows but no one else so i need the support that i hope you guys will give me. I am not ready to reveal the extent but it has to stop. Today. So this is day 1 of my journey.

Hi Alimbutt,

Welcome to the forum, and nice of you to share your story with us.

It seems like you’ve taken a step in the right direction by speaking to an online counsellor about your gambling problem.

Don’t worry if you don’t feel ready to share the details of your gambling problem at the moment, it would come to you naturally voluntarily when you feel ready.

I suggest that you take it one step at a time whilst following our advice, and be patient with yourself. Once you begin to apply the strategies, you’ll soon notice the difference for the better.

We might be able to offer you more help and support when we get to know a bit more about your gambling history, but that will hopefully come at your own time.

Maybe you’d like to read the posts from our Chatroom and Forum to encourage yourself. You’ll come to realise that you’re not alone, and that it is possible to overcome your gambling problem if you follow the strategies.

Please do feel free also to contact our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133 and speak directly to one of our advisers about your gambling problem.

Thank you for your post, and please keep posting!

Kind regards,

Beatrice

Hi there Alimbutt,

Hang in there. I know how you feel. I am in the same place. The yearnings for the machines are horrible, I cannot control my thoughts, my mind races and I feel like I need them.

Getting through this is so very hard, but we can do. I believe in you buddy. Keep fighting
