hi I am 58yrs old and have always had a problem with gambling, spending too much money, too much time and telling lies to cover
where I am. Not being the mother, wife that I could and should have been. Now I am a nan and think its about time I took ownership of this problem once and for all before I end up with an epitaph on my gravestone saying "here lies ........always the gambler!"
Hi breakdowntime. We are all brave in getting here but now we need to start taking the advice we r offered and act on it.
There's sum very wise people on this forum and u will get lots of support and ideas on helping u quit.
If Ur like me and do aLot of your gambling online u need to get software installed to prevent u even getting access. Iv had k9 put on mine and it works! It's free too!!.
Don't keep any excuses for not doing it. My favourite was always that I was awaiting cashback or loyalty bonuses from the sites I had spent on. But in reality when that cashback came it was given back and more.
If Ur using casinos bookies bingo etc then u need to self exclude and again with no excuses.
Have u confided in anyone? Is there any1 that can take control of.your finances until u r stronger?
Again well done for getting here. I'm a mother too and I know the shame u feel. It's a hard road but we will get there x
Thank you for your positive reply. I will be leaning on those who have experience and also those just like us who need a lot of emotional and sometimes just a kind word. Not feeling very positive this morning though. Irritable, disappointed within myself for even thinking about wanting to gamble. Will investigate the K9 thank you as not heard of it before so any help more than welcome. have started a recovery diary so am going to give it a go now. thank you for reply as much appreciated
Dont be annoyed with yourself for thinking about gambling its been your way of life for so long its only natural your brain defaults to gambling and the wonderful rewards you could reap if its your lucky day.
Stick with your diary,be positive and make this site your addiction and you will become gamble free with the ultimate reward in my recovery....peace of mind!!
Stay strong
Your more than welcome. We r all here to support each other and u CAN do this. I'll look out for Ur diary and posts on here with Ur progress. K9 is excellent but don't set a password u will remember or even better let someone else do it xx
