Does anybody think that you can be addicted to online gambling only? Due to the fact it's not "real" money.

I have been in bookies now n again over the years but never felt the urge to spend the money or time I did online.

Is there anyone on here who has kicked gambling online but still goes into the shops. This is quite specific to football gambling as I have never been into roulette or the FOBT's etc

I have only ever gambled online for 12 years, never stepped foot in a bookies in adult life. Used to when i was like 6 with my dad whilst he put his bets on horses. Never interested me in the slightest. Online was a conveniece it was right infront of me at any given time without even stepping foot through a door.. deadly.

Yeah agree with secret addict online I think is so so addictive and so easily accessible. I would never go and gamble in a bookies either but at my worst I would go to bingo hall as well and whilst I sat there I would gamble online on my phone !! I'm so glad I've gone on this journey and away from that, absolute madness. However I'm making peace with what happened it was a chapter of my life that happened I can't change it but I can move forward and change myself. My advice to anyone now is always the same, a compulsive gambler cannot control gambling abstain, block,block,block.....online,bookies,casinos,bingo halls. Get help to effect the change needed to move forward. Sounds easy? It's not it's hard work takes determination and commitment but it is SO SO worth it.....You get your life back. Stay strong guys

I think you can be addicted to anything you work into an addiction. We get into this after doing the same actions(gambling) repeatedly and it (the addiction) being fulfilling to some criteria such as playing for a social benefit, having a big win, suppressing a trauma, etc so it is not stuck in cyber alone. However, the cyber part is easy to get lost in as it is, cyber and does not feel real at all. Can remember winning thousands just to lose them again because I was complaisant to the wins. But you do get the same holding a plastic chip in a real casino to. You are dazzled by your surroundings and are reluctant to go out to the real world again so you spend whatever you have until you have to. It is quite devious. I do think it is purposely designed to drive you mad and that they know about it. Why would they keep on their sick marketing going if they did not know about the madness it creates and the money it rakes in for them?

Best
