Hello All,

I am new to this forum and have just done the most stupid thing - gambling away all my wages and school fees without taking care of my basic needs. Just back from the casino and feel quite but lame most of all , to have done what I have.

Hi Hope

Sounds like you are in a much better place than when you first joined this forum. Just remember its a long journey ahead for all of us and the will be some bumpy times but our lives are much better for not gambling. Keep up the good work and keep posting and reading the forums as i find this helps me alot.

All the Best
Darren

Hi everyone. I've read these posts and can relate. I've got myself into debt through this horrible illness, luckily I got found out by my partner before it got too deep, she's still here but the relationship is badly damaged but she's here that's all I care about. I'm currently 21 days gf and looking at positives. I've changed my lifestyle to cure the boredom of wanting to gamble, more housework,(even if it's just 1/2 cups to wash up) Hoover, put clothes away, bit ironing. Anything really. Dog walking for hour/s at a time, more exercise and go out running. Anything to keep the mind off gambling and looking to win back the love and affection of my fiancГ©e. Hope some of this helps you. Good luck

Well done on 13 days gf hope28.

At 31, I myself was trapped in the world of online slots and other forms of slots and gambling for years. Wanting to give up, self excluding but then drifting back into old habits.

Since finding gamcare that has changed. It's not been easy and I've had to committ much more than I have in the past but that is why it is working. If you can dedicate just a fraction of the time you found to gamble everyday to immerse yourself on the forum to just read, post, listen and take advice then you'll have a great chance of staying gamble free if you want it! In the early days its all about breaking habits built up over years.

Get the barriers in place, (no access to cards/keep busy/k9 software) immerse yourself in the forum and think about applying for counselling if not already. You can do counselling online with webcam access - it's great and has made a big difference to my recovery.

We're all rooting for you.

Thanks tommy for taking time to read my post, its crazy reading your 1st post an you saying about starting on slots an then moving on onto bigger an much more costly betting,I can relate to that cause I started in the same way, went from bad to worse, bigger an bigger bets an spins!

I've also got a lot off debt which luckily I've got a half decent job so I can set up a regular amount to pay it all off which will also take me a couple off years, but the 1 thing I've realised is gambling to try an pay my debt off ain't gonna work!

So this is now or never for me an I no I don't want that life anymore so I'm doing everything I can to make sure I stick to this self exclusion to every site I've been on an self exclusion from all local shops,an being on this site an reading everyone's story's is a massive help to me also,so 15 days in an feeling good

Thanks hope
