It's not a shame if you come of it.  You need to understand that addiction is hard to fix by yourself. It takes people a long time to understand what is wrong. The fact that you are here today indicates that you want a change for yourself and your family and you can be proud of that achievement for the moment. I am pretty sure you will find more things to be proud of as you progress in your recovery.

Best

Hi and Welcome to the forum.

There is no shame in reaching out for help. Its an addiction and I hope you start to learn about the addiction during a full recovery.

Its  far more complex than you may now think. Please stay on the forum and phone gamcare again as many times as you like.

You have to start healing your mind after a born again moment. Dont think about trust...you dont want the full trust again as the most important issue is no complacency against a drug addiction which gets into our bones.

Its not a stupidity or greed issue. You will even learn that the hook is not all about the money.

You are one of millions of people who developed a problem. Its designed to be addictive and it acts just like a drug addiction.

I hope you can tell your family when you are ready as you can not do this alone.

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Thank you for the kind words I feel like a big weight has lifted since I admitted to myself I have a gambling problem and 11 days in since I last laid a bet and am buzzing at that fact !!

My wife has played a big part in helping and have her full support and understands that i have an addiction and we are doing this together

The only way is up I know it’s not going to be easy I still have a real urge to bet or play on the casinos but want to beat this and I will with all your kind words and encouragement and the ongoing support from you all

Many thanks

Super work, made up you have the support from your wife.

I'm newbie too day 22. I've found coming on here whenever I have spare time everyday and reading the forums so helpful and motivational  in my recovery. Seeing the success stories gives you the drive to want to meet the same success and the new stories of people joining who are at rockbottom and struggling with no money cause they have bet it all away hits home hard and shows us we never ever want to be in that situation again.
