So after gambling for years and losing thousands, today I have taken the step to change.

I would say to myself everyday “that’s it no more” and everyday the cycle would be the same. Chasing money I had lost, taking out loans and hiding my addiction from friends and family. Feeling guilty, ashamed, depressed,  not sleeping and missing out on life.

Today I have contacted a debt management company, registered for Gamban and Gamstop.

I can’t change the past but I can look forward to a brighter, better future. One day at a time!

Hi

Thank you for have taken the first step to change heal adn find a healthy recovery.

For me after gambling for many years and causing myself so many pains fears and frustrations I attended GA meetings.

It took me more than one meeting per week yet in time I got it.

I now understand that when I gambled I made things much worse.

The money was only the fuel for my addiction.

Handing over all finacnes made it much easier for me and only having small amounts of money on my person helped so much.

Chasing money I had lost, made things much worse.

Taking out loans and hiding my addiction from friends and family made things much worse.

For me feeling guilty, ashamed, depressed,  not sleeping and missing out on life made me feel such a  loner and a faiure.

As the lies got biger and I felt more guilty I felt like I was in a tails pin out of control.

I to could not change the past but I could heal from my pains in the future.

Thank you for being open and honest on here that is a big start to recovery.

Reducing your fears helps you.

Please understand that the addiction is just the symptoms that you may be emotionally vulnerable.

For me escaping in my fears and going gambling just made things much worse and cuased my self more pains.

If you are able to go to GA meetings or any open recovery meeting it all helps.

You are correct going back to gambling just make thinsg much worse.

You opening up and being honest is a big start to finding help and recovery.

Investing time an energy in to your recovery can turn thinsg around and help you heal from your pains.

In time I accepted that money lost is gone and surrender to the fact I would not get it back.

Please eak help in your recovery.

Sadly for me I was not able to stop gambling from day one which is often the case.

Yet by attending more than one meeting per week I was not able to abstain from gambling but I was abale to become much more healthy and less afraid over time.

By understanding when I was emotionally vulnerable I was able to stop reacting in such unhealthy ways over time.

I am a non religious person yet I have found peace and healing in my recovery.

Love and peace to every one

@gadaveuk thank you ?

It’s not a grate place to be in but I am finding some comfort in reading other peoples stories and realising that I’m not alone in this journey.

I know it isn’t going to be easy and this is my second attempt to stop gambling, the difference this time is that I’m not trying to do it alone.

where would I find local meetings please?

good luck with your recovery.

Stay strong. I am in the same situation. On day 1 and need to change my life. I can’t live like this anymore. Take care and stay strong. Take every day as it comes and become stronger.

Hi

Being in the recovery program helped me help myself to stop escaping to my addictions and my obsessions and make much healthier choices day by day.

Paying back the money I owed took time but once done gve me much more healthier choices in my life.

Yes by sharing with like minded peoples stories and realising that I was not alone any more.

I am not alone in my journey to healthier living..

For me it took far more than second attempt to stop gambling, yet in time I got the messag.

Escaping in my fears to gambling made things much worse and more painful.

The recovery program helped me heal my pains face adn reduce my fears.

I hope that you are able find local meetings.

There is also meeting on line.

I found that recovery has little to do about luck

Love and peace to every one
