One think I have learnt is that its easy enough to "stop" if you think you will start again in a few weeks time. Stopping for good is a lot more daunting.

Hi Simmys1979,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your post.

Like you said, we all wish the forum will be the right place you’ve been looking for all this time to provide you with the necessary help and support that you need to quit gambling.

Gamcare is ready to advise you on numerous strategies to help you overcome your problematic gambling. We can also refer you to 12 sessions of free counselling if you think that would help you to stop gambling.

You did mention that boredom is part of the reason why you like to gamble. I think it would be advisable to try and replace your spare/ gambling time with other activities/ hobbies to distract you from gambling. In case you haven’t got any hobbies, perhaps this is the time to start thinking about one that will make a difference to your life; the change that you’ve been yearning for.

You can effect that change in your life by sticking to the advice we offer you; you have a responsibility to yourself, your partner, and the unborn baby, and to beat it this time. It’s doable, and you can do it!

Maybe, you’ll like to contact our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers, and also give them more details about your gambling (the type, how long, etc.), so you can get the maximum advice and support that you need to enable you to overcome your gambling problem.

I wish you all the best in your effort to stop gambling. Thanks once again for your post, and pls. keep posting.

Regards,

Beatrice.
