Today I have decided to finally kick this horrible addiction.
I have been gambling on and off for around 10 years, and although there is occasionally the want to do something about stopping it, its never really happened. Although I have never got myself in large amounts of debt, I often think about what else I could have done with the money had I not gambled it, and the things I have missed out on because of it.
I have just bought my first house with my partner, and I know if I do not do something about it now, lots of trouble lies ahead. I will be self excluding from my local bookmakers on Monday, and have contacted a local counsellors for advice. My partner does not know the extent of my gambling, but I am only going to tell her once I am on the road to recovery.
Does anyone have any small tips of things to do to help. For example, do people physically mark on a calendar each day they have not gambled? Do you have a picture of a loved one on your phone/in your wallet that you look at if you feel the urge to gamble? Does anyone use exercise as a tool to distract from an urge to gamble? Any tips would be much appreciated.
Day 1 starts tomorrow....

Awsome acdc got here in time lol
Steps well im only 13 days in my main issues are superficial and financial tips ive used, okay tips I used were to log in here and post whats on my mind when I feel the urge! Its doesnt matter day or night if I can gamble then I can get in here first and it usually passes after a passage or so.talking about it helps so be brutally honestnas you can about why you gamble whats the things that bite you the most how it makes you feel when you lose or win where it will lead you if you carry on.get away from your gamblig haunts go foe a walk somewhere in the country or sea side if you can.one night I was so tempted to gamble I had been payed it was about 2am as I loaded up an online site my feinceee rolled over and she looked so safe secure and peaceful asleep I just come on here and chatted to myself.it helped I didnt gamble and you know what its part of whats led me here now.
Affected by gambling?
