Hi my life has been ruined by online gambling. I lost my marriage my homes a business and now a second business due to my addiction. I have tried numerous times to quit. Blocking software - online help - self exclusion - anything and everything. I failed always. And still fail.

I have a son who gets nothing from me due to my addiction and posses now nothing. Due to be evicted in a weeks time from a place i worked at which had accommodation. This is my intro in brief. I have no idea why im here apart from the fact im 45 and have ruined my life. I hate my self and detest my addiction and my weakness to overcome. I went months without a bet then it comes back strong as ever. And before I know it im xxx down.

Thanks for reading and hello D.

Looked at betfilter but did not pay the 69" US. Instead blew what was left in my bank. Rock bottom. With no way out. Could scream. If it was not for my son i would open my wrists. Worthless in every way.

Hello Deeno,

Welcome to the GamCare forum.

The painful feelings of loss, remorse and despair that can follow gambling, are familiar to you and will be recognised by the members here. Well done for joining the forum, where beneficial peer support is freely shared, among people who have had challenging struggles with gambling and recovery. Your feelings of frustration and demoralisation will be understood here, at the same time people will encourage you to take good care of yourself, and to do what you can to strengthen your recovery.

If you’re living in Britain you might like to contact a GamCare adviser on our Freephone 0808 8020 133, or on our Netline; the advisers can facilitate referrals to our free counselling services near you, if you would like a regular 1-2-1 appointment with a therapist who is specially trained to work with problem gambling. We can also give you contact details for other organisations that provide treatment for problem gambling, like the Gordon Moody Association and the NHS. As you mentioned an accommodation problem, you might also like to call the Shelter Housing Advice Line on 0808 800 4444. If you experience suicidal feelings, please talk with a Samaritan on 08457 90 90 90, which is a 24 hour helpline.

If you are based outside of Britain, you might be interested to see this website:

Take care,

Adam.
