hi my name is chris. im 34 yrs old and have been gambling since i was about 15. at first it was just a bit of fun but progressively it has got worse and worse. i met my partner kayley 8 years ago and was gambling alot mainly on the football. we have 2 children but that never stopped it for some reason considering they are the most important things in my life. i kept borrowing money off my partner to gamble with with no thought on if we had enough money for bread or milk. i just expected kayley to buy it. all i wanted was money for betting. i got an ultimatum about 6 days ago that i stop betting or lose her and the kids. i have not bet since and its been so hard but dont want to lose the 3 best things in my life. just need to keep it up for them all

Hi Lodgey,

You actually need to do this for yourself. The good things in life with follow if you look after you. Get to your nearest GA meeting and start understanding this addiction and how to really tackle it

thank you lost 1961 and joe 90. im still gamble free. it is so hard when i watch the football or any sport and every advert in between is a betting advert but i have to think of my kids and partner rather than myself for the first time in life. why have you finally pushed them away lost1961. and i agree joe. i feel a different person at the moment. im not moody with anyone coz ive lost a fortune. probably as happy as ive been in a long time. just have to keep it up

really struggling tonight. watching the rugby and really enjoying it to be fair without worrying about losing anything. But i really would have loved to have a bet on it. in my mind i keep saying i could win a fortune. I played a game on my phone the other day. non gambling game i might add. There was an advert in between for rainbow riches. I felt sick when i saw it because its a game i played. i just want to get back to enjoying watching sports for what it is like i used to rather than thinking what i could have possibly won if i was still betting. bit of a confusing post sorry
