Well I'm here again I honestly don't no what to do. Where do I start? I've been gambling for about 14 years and I guess I've always had a problem even from the early days. At the start off this year I really made a effort to stop I actually managed a whole month but then I just started with small bets and it's developed from there. I really really want to stop betting its ruining my life but I just can't I honestly don't no where to go from here. Any help or advice that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Hi matty21 - Welcome to the site and well done for realising you need to beat this.
If you take a look at Mr Brightside's last post on the '2014 Challenge' (you'll find the thread on the 'Overcoming problem gambling' page), you might be interested in the 'Top 5' things to do to stop gambling. These have been tried and tested by all the members of the challenge and they really work. Whether you join the Challenge or not, you could try some (or all) of these strategies. Personally, the biggest help for me was to put barriers in place, i.e. self-exclusion and blocking software which makes it nigh on impossible for me to gamble online.
If you read other people's stories on this site you will be inspired and realise that you too can overcome this terrible addiction.
You will also find lots of support and encouragement too.
Best wishes
Joanna
I'll have a look that Thabk you. Is there anything you can do to block gambling sites on your phone?
Mmm - not sure about that one as I still use two tin cans and a piece of string .... why don't you post a specific request for advice on phone blocks on the 'Overcoming problem gambling' page - that way you'll be sure of a reply.
Glad to see you have joined the Challenge.
