Hello everyone,
I've been free from gambling since the 29th December 2015 just before I turned 21. I started out gambling from a young age which started with innocent football accumulators as well as too many scratchcards. This soon escalated to casino gambling and though some large sums were lost, all the money would balance out being won back eventually. It soon turned very ugly though with online casino gambling where I lost approx 5k of savings (all) after having got greedy at being up 5k. After realising that I didn't want to be that irresponsible person anymore I stopped cold turkey.
Since then I havent really missed gambling but being new to this kind of support system, I'd like to ask if all gambling has to cease? Basically I have an itching again to try the innocent 20p accumulators because i love football and it makes it interesting but I understand this could be dodgy waters. Does the lottery count as gambling? My friends at work want to do a Euromillions syndicate, and I am unsure if that counts as gambling (as I dont want to feel left out).
Welcome mix
Firstly as a controlled gambaler I lost thousands. As a compulsive gambaler I lost tens of thousands
I think what you're describing is
You're getting the itch.
All gambaling needs is that one moment of weakness and your back in the thick of it.
Mate you have done amazing to get this far. So why spoil it
Keep on the road of abstinence
I've been where you are now and it doesn't turn out the way your brain makes you think it will
And to answer your question yes lotto is gambaling
All the best bud hopefully you will make the right choice
As a cg ive tried controlled gambling...example i took just 20quid for a footy bet...i promised id do this every saturday. I did it the first saturday no problem but then did more tue wed thur for euro footy and won...then horses and everything followed ...again .
I wouldn't chance it. No way. You've done really well and as someone else pointed out one moment of weakness can spiral out of control. Bingo, lotttery, charity tickets, horses, machines, virtual racing, work syndicates etc are in my view all gambling. Stay away is my view. Cheers, Phil
would be interesting to know what you decide mixablemixer2
I think you're missing the point. You're gf, which is all good but there's work to be done to address your continued addiction and to stay in recovery. It's about the craving to place the bet, about you getting whatever it is that the act of placing a bet gives you.
You can't win because you can't stop and that first bet is the one to avoid.

Gambling to me is where I stake to make a gain be that a raffle ticket to win a hamper or a lottery ticket.
You said you started your gambling life with an innocent football accumulator and now you want to got back to that, remember where it took you. That 20p will soon turn into £20.
Just remember your a compulsive gambler because you can't win because you just can't stop
Hi,
Listen to the advice from the replies. What I'd like to say is your 21 and you've got the rest of your life to live and enjoy without the need to gamble. Many people on here would probably wish to be in your shoes.... Just concentrate now on turning the 8 months into a year being gamble free.
Read many members opening posts.... Many start with that "fun" Saturday football bet, you only know yourself where that leads to.
All the best.
Hi Mix , Not meant harshly but " Don't be stupid " were Compulsive Gamblers and there's no such thing as an acceptable Gamble where were concerned because we all know where it will lead, back here on day one and deeper in debt than we were already .
Leave it well alone and move on with your young life and use your precious years to live life and be happy :))
Best wishes Alan
